Frances Irwin Handweavers

Guild Program Highlights

While Frances Irwin Handweavers is primarily focused on weaving, monthly programs may include other fiber-related topics. A sampling of our yearly calendar typically includes the following:

  • Professional programming, in the form of a demonstration or workshop by a regionally or nationally known textile artist. Past programs have included Jason Collingwood, Sharon Alderman, Sharon Costello, and Robyn Spady.
  • A yearly "Round Robin," where members bring table top looms warped for a particular fiber focus. Participants then share their looms, increasing everyone's experience and skill level in the selected topic.

  • Show 'n Tell, a monthly opportunity to see projects in progress, finished items, or share challenges and solutions discovered when weaving.
  • Swatch samples, with detailed warp & weave instructions, are available periodically for a nominal fee.
  • Make weaving history from the 1800's come alive with summer volunteer opportunities in the National Park Service at Millbrook Village.
  • Occasional field trips to museums, suppliers, or distributors of fiber-related products.
  • The Holiday Luncheon and woven gift exchange held in December.
