Sage and her puppies, asleep

The epitome of maternal contentment, this is Sage with her first litter of six boys, born November 29, 2000. Sage (U-CD INT'L (UCI) CH Wakan African Sage Sinbaj CDX, OA, OAJ, NAC, NJC, CGC) is owned by Linda Auld of Sinbaj Basenjis. Add the title of "Mother" to this long list of accomplishments!

Jessie with her toys

Jessie Marie was owned and loved by Basenji slaves Deb and Mike Kirby of Grand Forks, North Dakota. Born January 7, 1995, she is pictured here at 8 weeks. Her life was sadly shortened by illness, and she crossed the fabled Bridge on March 16, 2000. RIP, sweet Jessie.

Ginger , the

Ginger, known to her friends as "the other basenji from Hell", found a convenient spot for a fresh air snooze. Born January 10, 1998, Ginger lived with her boy Ryan, and Ryan's mom, Debbi Johnson, in Germantown, Tennessee. Sadly, Ryan's Wild Ginger died as the result of an allergic reaction to a bee sting on March 24, 2003. She might have been "from Hell", but I'm sure she's in Heaven now.

Baby Dan in his birthday suit

Sinbajs Perfectly Dapper Dan is one of Sage's litter in the top photo. Dan came to live with Deb and Mike Kirby and "brother" Jack, in Grand Forks, ND, in February 2001. I wish MY "birthday suit" baby picture was this cute!

Almaaz by the garden gate

Almaaz (registered as African Mystery's Almazi Haiba) was born January 20, 2000 in the Netherlands. Her dad, 12-year-old Alibaba Abou Teka, and other canine friends, live in Sindelfingen, Germany with Uschi Grewe.

Jubal's sweet face Jubal, registered as Jebelmarra Impeccable, was born in Australia on June 5, 1996. A spring puppy?! Remember, in the southern hemisphere June occurs in winter! A seasoned veteran with 65 shows behind him, Australian Champion Jubal is content now to rest on his laurels and be worshipped by his "mom", Hazel Goodnight. They live in Victoria, Australia.

LOLLY, A TRI-COLOR BASENJI PUPPY Lolly was born November 18, 1999 and lives in Austin, Texas with her cat buddies Aslan and Narnia. Mom Alicia Schweter says lovely Lolly is quite the vocalist. Perhaps we'll see her with Jay Leno on The Tonight Show some night!
Sunny, a red/white basenji puppy, with her friend Slick Sunny was four months old in this picture with her friend Slick, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in July 2002. She lives in Choctaw, Oklahoma with her doting slave Jacque Holdaway. Although she shares her home with assorted farm animals, Sunny aspires to the life of a showgirl and hopes to someday be known as Ch. Holdaway's Red Sundancer.
Cali plays with her basenji/whippet brother Chewy

Cali (Solivia's Be Still My Heart) was born December 17, 2001 in Georgia. She was hand delivered to Dana and George Mowry in Tampa, Florida in a twin prop plane when she was four months old. She loves meeting her many basenji friends and their slaves at area dog parks, and cooling off in her own personal pool. Cali also loves to play with her basenji/whippet "brother" Chewy!
Adorable Barklee at 9 weeks old

Barklee was born December 7, 2001 and is pictured here at 9 weeks old. He lives in Euless, Texas with his Aunt Biscuit and Uncle Beavis, also basenjis. They enjoy chasing each other and fighting over the same toy. According to their mama, Kim, the trio are also hard-core laundry thieves!
Bruiser and Daisy catch some shut-eye

Born in June 2002, buddies Bruiser and Daisy are pictured here at about 5 months. They live in Indianapolis, Indiana with their devoted slaves Heather and Mickey. Since Basenjis aren't allowed on the Indy 500 Oval, they have to be content chasing Aladdin the cat around the house, wrestling, and going for romps in the park. A high point in any day is meeting children on their walks. Another favorite pastime is eating: Daisy dotes on grapes (in controlled quantities, of course), while Bru adores pig's ears.
California girl Kona catches some sun on the beach

Beach baby Kona lives in Newport Beach, CA. She was born Dec 2, 2003 in Burbank. A typical California girl, Kona loves the beach, but another favorite activity is playing with about 25 other Basenjis at the local dog park. At a year old, Kona is a petite 15 pounds; her dad, Ben, says she more than makes up for her small size with her energetic personality!
Brindle baby Kirra with Molson Golden Sweet little Sydney came to mend a heart

Half-Af brindle baby Kirra was loved by Greg Grumet in Raleigh, NC. Her brief young life ended tragically when she escaped her vet's kennel and was hit by a car. (Make sure your caretaker understands that your Basenji is a sighthound and that every precaution must be taken for safety's sake!)

Sydney was born January 13, 2004. He put the smile back in Greg's heart after the loss of Kirra. Sydney, a tuneful yodeler even at 10 weeks, enjoys bossing around his docile Golden Retriever housemate, Molson. (Y'see, mate, Greg names his pups after Australian locations, while his roommate favors -- Canadian beers!?)
Born on New Year's Day 2004, BJ lives with dog brother Droopy, a parti-colored Cocker Spaniel, in San Angelo, Texas. An easy-going boy, BJ even enjoys an occasional bath, though you'd never suspect it from this picture of his first one at 8 weeks!

BJ's other favorite activities include meeting new people (Kathy, his mom, makes sure he has lots of opportunities to socialize), chasing golf balls, and sunbathing on his own private putting green in the back yard. Tiger Woods, eat your heart out!

Shadow was born just before Christmas 2005 in Anza California. This picture was taken when he was 12 weeks old. He was already full of it. Shadow lives in San Diego where he enjoys weather that is just right: not too hot and not too cold, and almost none of that nasty rain stuff! Shadow's proud owner and trainer is Brandon Browning, age 11. Shadow Browning plays tug-o-war
Boingo LeVan, age 8 months, sits with sister Beanie Boingo LeVan, age 8 months, lives in Marion, Ohio with a chocolate lab "sister" named Beanie. Why "Boingo"? Because he is so like a tightly coiled spring, explains his mom, Emily. He's a top contender for the B-500 Enduro! Boingo's neighbors all love how he sits on the front step "like a little statue".
Senji was born prematurely in Makaha, Hawaii on Thanksgiving Day 2004. His sister died, but Senji survived and was hand-raised until strong enough to be sent to Spokane, Washington to live.

He is spoiled rotten by his human mom Vanessa! He shares a home with his brother Anubis (from a previous litter), 2 unrelated female basenjis, 6 human "siblings", and, pictured here, his best buddy Bruno.
