This is what I wrote this morning, but Geocities was being funky about saving the files. Most of it is still pertinent, though I don't know how interesting it is.
Oh joy. Yet another Monday is here. Sorry, but I'm just not a morning person. I don't start becoming my usual bright and chipper self until at least 11am. I can't even claim that I need my morning coffee, since caffeine really doesn't wake me up much. I guess it's because I've been drinking coffee since I was 13. I would have started much earlier, but my folks wouldn't let me. They were afraid that the caffeine would stunt my growth. Since I'd hit my current height of 5'5" by the time I was twelve, thirteen was a good age to let me have my way. I've always loved the smell and taste of coffee with creamer and sugar. So much so that, until I was thirteen, I drank coffee-flavored Postum, that oh-so-yummy grain drink. But once Mom and Dad said coffee was ok, a monster was born. Well, not exactly. Most teens on coffee with sugar are probably forces to be reckoned with. Not shy lil' ol' me. I enjoyed the taste, but rarely felt myself jumpstarted by the caffeine/sugar combo. Just too laid back, I suppose. Oh, every once in a while I'd feel the jolt, but on the whole, I drank (and still drink) coffee purely for flavor enjoyment. Until a few years ago, I could even drink it right before I went to bed and have no problem sleeping. My coffee consumption has changed over the years. I used to drink several cups a day, and was able to stand the swill that most offices use instead of coffee. Now I generally have only one (large) cup a day, which can be either decaf or caffeinated (decaf at home and regular when out and about), and that's usually in the morning. And forget about the cigarette ashes used to brew "coffee" at work. I value my tastebuds too highly. These days I'm not much of an espresso/cappucino fan (too strong, though I did drink quite a few of them for several years) and I can't stand Starbucks coffee (too bitter, though they have a great soy hot cocoa). I prefer flavored coffee (hazelnut, vanilla nut, that kind of thing) with Mocha Mix and cocoa powder, though sometimes a nice, plain cuppa joe is exactly what my tastebuds cry for.
I never did go out to see a movie on Friday, but I did watch A Civil Action on video with friends. Interesting story, some wonderful actors (I'm a fan of John Lithgow, William H. Macy and Tony Shalhoub, in particular), but ultimately unsatisfying as a movie. It just didn't engage me. Besides, I think John Travolta is far more interesting to watch when he's not a good guy. I suppose I should rent Face/Off, though I'm not much of an action fan.
I have an Audiences Unlimited meeting tonight at 5pm. It's for returning audience pages and marks the beginning of the TV season. I'm hoping that I'll be back on the shows that I worked last season (3rd Rock from the Sun and That 70's Show!), since I had a lot of fun on both shows. I know that the head page for That 70's Show! wants to have me back on his crew, as well as the rest of the gang from last season, but, ultimately, it's up to the scheduling powers that be. Take care!
