Aim of the Institute

The Franciscan Apostolic Sisters form a religious institute of diocesan right dedicated to apostolic works.

The aim of the Institute is to promote the glory of God and the personal sanctification of its member by observing the public vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, according to the Rule and Life of the Brothers and Sisters of the Third Order Regular of Saint Francis of Assisi approved by Pope John Paul II on December 8, 1982.

Every sister should be willing to assume any kind of work that will lead to her sanctification and the salvation of souls, even though how lowly the task is.  She must be open to new ways and means of apostolate that will make her more effective.  She should be ready to go any place designed to her by her superiors.

The Franciscan Apostolic Sisters joins the Church as an Institute of Consecrated Women who portray the life of Mary and her work in the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi.  As Mary tended to the needs of Jesus and His disciples and shared the work of Salvation, so the FAS tends to priests and assists them in their work of evangelization in the humility and simplicity of Saint Francis of Assisi.  The Father Founder wishes the sisters to be humble servants;  to be "All to All" in the service of every soul in the parish.

The sisters should form themselves as to be able to serve concerns of the local church as teaching in schools and in parishes, pastoral work in far villages, giving health assistance to those in need, as well as domestic works in the rectory.

Being an active contemplative, the sisters adapt and treasure silence, constant prayer and penance similar to that of the contemplative.  Following the words of their Founder: " We re-fill our spirits by prayer and penance and pour out to others by our active apostolate ".
