What is crude oil?
A mixture of hydrocarbon compounds makes what we call, petroleum crude oil. These compounds were created millions of years ago. Marine Life died and setteld at the bottom of many bodies of water. This material was then coverede with layers of sediment and then was embedded in the Earth. The temperature and pressure increased by further sediment accumulating on top of the substance. It is then put though a process, not unlike cooking, were the temperature can between 65-150degrees C.
The final product is CRUDE OIL!!! |
