By now Jake was outside, and found the rest of the customers there, and he
found Melinda had run out as well. "Whatever has happened to you?" said Melinda,
looking really shocked.
"What do you mean", asked Jake
"Your hair - look at your hair"
Jake put his hand over his balding head. It was full of hair - hair that hadn't been there
a moment ago. He then noticed that he was having trouble seeing - it was as though
something has gone wrong with his spectacles. He took them off to look at them, and
realized that he could see perfectly alright without them. He started to notice other
changes - his bite seemed different. Moving his tongue around he noticed that teeth
that were previously missing were back. He looked at a burn on the back of his hand
that had left a scar - the scar had gone. A sense of horror came over him. "I have been
struck by the devil" he said "It was devil's work in there - a dreadful plot to shut us all
out of heaven. They are going to turn us all into perverts and make us live for ever in
their hell. They have some sort of gun that shoots life at us, an unnatural, ungodly, life.
We are doomed, doomed, doomed ..."
