Nick heard Vanessa open the door he thought he heard crying but it stopped. When he heard the door close he was expecting Vanessa to come back up. When she didn’t he decided to see what was going on. As he got down the stairs he could hear talking when he got close enough he could tell it was Angela and she sounded upset. He was turning to leave when he had her say that she was pregnant. He stopped in his tracks and sat down right there on the floor outside the TV room. As he was sitting there he didn’t even noticed the doorbell until Vanessa came out of the TV room.
“Nick what are you doing?” she whispered pulling him away from the TV room so I wouldn’t hear them. Vanessa could tell by the look on his face that he had heard. “Nick lets just try to hold it together at least for her.”
“Okay, I’ll see who’s at the door you go back with Angela,” Nick said and then went to get the door. “AJ, hey did you just get back?”
“No I’ve been home since this afternoon.” He paused when he heard shouting coming from the TV room he thought it sounded like me. “I just came over to see if you guys wanted to go get something to eat. Was that Angela that was yelling?” He said starting to walk to the TV room. That’s when he heard another voice yell and he was sure that it was Vanessa.
“No it’s just Vanessa she’s on the phone. Why don’t you sit here in the living room while I go get a shirt on and get Vanessa,” he said running to the TV room to see why we were yelling and to tell us that AJ was there.
Vanessa walked back to the TV room. I had stopped crying I was started to feel better about this. I figured I could just go back to California and raise the baby. That is until Vanessa told me, “Nick heard.”
“What was he doing listening? Why does he have to be so nosey?!” I shouted not caring if Nick heard.
“He wasn’t listening he came down to see what I was doing and he just heard!” Just then Nick ran into the room. “So don’t be mad at him cause you’re pr…”
“Stop!!” He walked over to us and said, “AJ is here he was the one at the door. He heard you guys yelling.”
“Oh no I'm not ready for him to know yet. What am I going to do?”
“He doesn’t know that you’re here I told him that Vanessa was talking on the phone I think he believed me. But not unless you guys keep your voices down,” he said not really liking that he had to lie AJ. When he felt that he should know especially this. “He came here to see if you and me would like to go out to dinner with him.”
“I don’t think that now would be a good time,” Vanessa said looking at me.
“No don’t stay cause of me if you want to go then go. I’ll be fine it will give me a chance to think about what I'm going to do and how I'm going to tell him.” I really didn’t want them to go but I also didn’t feel like talking about it. I was getting the feeling that Nick really wanted to tell AJ. It seemed like he was going to try and talk me into telling AJ that night. I know it must be hard for him knowing something that has to do with AJ and not being able to tell him.
“Are you sure cause I feel funny leaving you here after you told us what you just that,” Vanessa said not really wanting to go cause she didn’t know if she could keep a secret this big from AJ.
“No really I'm fine go have dinner this is my problem. You guys have done so much by just listening and being here for me. Also for not telling AJ and letting me be able to do it in my own time,” I said the last part to Nick I felt kinda bad for saying that he was listening. I guess it’s just those hormones.
“Okay well we won’t be back late,” Nick said as Vanessa led me to a guestroom upstairs. She showed me where the towels were and got me some of her pajamas.
As we were going back into the guestroom Nick came back upstairs. “I told AJ that we’d go with him he went home to change he’ll be back in 10 minutes.”
“I'm just gonna take a shower and go to bed, don’t worry about me,” I said seeing the worried looks are their faces.
“Just make yourself at home theres lots of movies down in the TV room. If you want you can play my Nintendo 64,” Nick said.
“Nick really I'm going to be okay. I'm not dying I'm just having a baby,” I said trying to reassure them that everything will be fine, I hope.
“We better go get changed before AJ gets back,” Vanessa said as she gave me a hug and walked out of the room with Nick close behind.
When AJ got there I was in the shower, Vanessa stuck her head in the bathroom and said, “We’re leaving see ya later.”
“Bye.”
I heard Nick and Vanessa get back from dinner. I knew that they would check on me. If they saw that I was awake they would probably want to talk and I didn’t feel like talking. I also didn’t want them to see that I had been crying. So when they opened my door I pretended to be asleep. I lay there trying to get to sleep but I had trying to do that all night I don’t know why I thought it would work now. When I was finally started to doze off I heard Vanessa yelling all I could make out was ‘YES!!! YES!!!’. I assumed they were getting it on and I really didn’t want to hear that. So I just put the pillow over my head and that’s the last thing I remember.
“See I told you she would be asleep,” Vanessa said as her and Nick went into their room.
“Today was a crazy day,” he said taking his clothes off except his boxers.
“It has been but imagine how Angela must feel being pregnant by AJ and AJ being with someone else,” she said as she finished changing into her pajamas.
“It seems like we haven't been alone all day,” Nick said as he walked up behind Vanessa and wrapped his arms around her.
“Yeah like all day when things started getting good we had an interruption. Do we dare try again?” She asked turning to face him.
When she did that he kissed her softly on the forehead and walked her to the bed. He sat her on the edge and held her hands in his. She looked up at him and saw that he looked nervous.
Out of nowhere he got down on one knee and said, “Vanessa you already know that I love you so much. I would do anything for you.” By now she was crying. “I know that we haven’t known each other for that long but the one thing that I do know is that I can’t live without you. I want you to always be with me. I want to grow old with you. Vanessa there is nothing that I would want more than for you to be my wife. Will you marry me?” When he said that he took the ring out of his pocket and opened the box.
Inside her head she was screaming YES!!! YES!!! But all that was coming out were tears.
“Are the tears a yes or a no?” Nick asked really wanting her to say something.
“YES!!! YES!!! I would love to be your wife!” Vanessa shouted and jumped on him. They landed on the floor with her on top and kissing him.
“Yes you said yes?” he asked but all he got was kisses. Even though he didn’t want her to stop he stopped her long enough to get the ring on her finger.
As he slipped the ring on her finger she leaned in and whispered in his ear. “Yes Nick I love you more than I can say.”
They fell asleep in each others arms and being so in love with each other, right there on the floor.
