P-nut
|
This is miss P-nut, our Rat Terrier (or bRat Terror, as we sometimes call her).
We got her in June of 2001 after losing our Rat Terrier, Sam, to liver cancer in May.
P-nut's family was giving her away (can you believe that?) because she was too high maintenance for them. It wasn't P-nut's fault - she was just a puppy.
Unfortunately, this is a very common occurrence not just for Rat Terriers, but for other breeds as well. People buy a puppy on impulse just because it's cute, but when the novelty wears off and they realize the tremendous responsibility involved in caring for a growing puppy, they give them up.
Even more tragic is that so many of these dogs are not as lucky as P-nut and never make it to new homes.
Things are much better for P-nut now. She has lots of toys (and people) to play with, a big backyard to run around in, a comfy bed to sleep in, and all the hot dogs she can eat! She has a doggy "brother" and "sister", a kitty "brother" and "sister" to play with also, though they may not always appreciate it.
We recently added a bunny to the family and they enjoy playing together.
You will never see this dog without a toy in her mouth, and as far as she's concerned, anything at bRat level is a toy!
Her favorite toys are TENNIS BALLS. We have several tennis balls all over the house and about a dozen different varieties. When she's not busy being the little bRat Terror that she is, you will find her curled up in her favorite resting spot - the top of the recliner.
