Miscellaneous Links New Work
Here are some links to friend’s of mine sites (most of which are art related), along with some sites about the place that I live.
LINKS

|
Pittsburgh Dish A local online magazine run by some of my neighbors about Pittsburgh and my ‘hood in particular. They cover stuff that the local media sources ignore or just simply miss. And they do it with some humor to boot. Karl Fritz Huber A weirdo artist friend of mine that I met here in my neighborhood. Turns out that we both lived in Ohio & New Mexico at the same time, and even knew some of the same people, but somehow managed to miss each other. Dan Wintermantel My friend Dan is a graphic artist and this is his site. Dan’s done a lot of work for a variety of clients including all of the Mexican War Streets stuff, my wedding, and even my sister’s wedding (separately of course). Also be sure to check out the link to shirtheads, a company that he helped create. If you need shirts, jackets, posters, or hats you should check them out. Sarah Higgins This is the site where my friend Sarah Higgins posts her photography. God stuff abounds here at her site. Andrea Nichola This is my friend Andrea’s site, which shows some of her very impressive paintings (yes, she too lives in my 'hood). They look really good on the computer and they are outstanding in person. Her work reminds me of Modigliani but there is also a lot of Picasso and Magritte as well. What do you think? Erin and Matt's Global Journey: a chronical of a dream My friends Matt & Erin sold everything they own, bought a boat, and now live on it down in the Caribbean. This is their site, which is full of yammering from Matt and photos of life on the water. Kendall Fortney Another weirdo artist friend of mine that lives here in Pittsburgh. Kim Fox And yet another artist that I know that lives in my little neighborhood (we've got quite a few). The Mexican War Streets This is the site for my neighborhood, which is a local and national historic district. Some shots of mine are up at this site as well. Allegheny City Society The part of Pittsburgh that I live in was once its own city called Allegheny. In 1907 Pittsburgh annexed Allegheny and proceeded to treat it like a redheaded stepchild. This is a site dedicated to preserving the remnants of Allegheny, promoting what is now called the North Side, along with giving the visitor a history of the area. Mz. Allaneus Tammy is an artist that lives out in Salida, Colorado. She does lots of different sculpture but what really impresses me the most are her furniture designs and the railing with the newel post. Very cool looking work indeed. The Mattress Factory The Mattress Factory is an internationally recognized contemporary art installation museum right in my neighborhood. Besides hosting installation pieces, they also host various parties, functions and are very active in my community. The Mattress Factory is also involved with the City of Asylum program, where exiled artists are given a safe haven. Our current guest is Horacio Castellanos Moya , an El Salvadorian born writer, who is now living and drinking with us at our local Pub. The Tom Museum This is a new museum started by “Tom” and located in his house (which is a few blocks away from me). The museum is connected to the Mattress Factory and will have various displays, puppet shows, cooking demonstrations, visitor participation with Tom, and Lord only knows what else. |
