Fox Run Shelties is composed of myself and my husband Mike. I have six children who help socialize the babies for us.We are located in Martinez, which is approximately 10 miles west of Augusta, Georgia. All of our dogs are house dogs, and spend 90% of their time in the house with us. By choice we have chosen to limit our numbers to under 5 dogs, and we plan to only have between 1-2 litters per year that have been though out and planned way in advance
We acquired our first sheltie in 2007 and unfortunately we knew very little about the breed. We ended up re-rehoming our Macie from a someone who bought her from a BYB (back yard breeder). We thus have ended up learning the hard way as many others have. In the mean time I have been learning and absorbing anything and everything about this magnificent breed. As well as teaching my older children about the sheltie. And can not wait to breed my first litter when I know I am ready and find the right match.
So we will strive to breed dogs that come as close to the sheltie standard as possible. As future breeders of Shetland Sheepdogs we are extremely dedicated to producing quality dogs that excel in temperament, soundness/structure, and type. Even though all of the qualities are of utmost importance to us we put extreme emphasis on temperament. Any dog that does not have a stable, lovable, and easy to live with temperament will not be incorporated into our breeding program!
We are also extremely aware, and concerned about the potential genetic health problems that do affect our breed, and we feel strongly about having all of our dog’s tested for such problems (such as OFA, Eye Cerfs, Thyroid & Vwd. The only way we as breeders can eliminate these problems is by us recognizing these problems, and by not breeding dogs that are affected.
We hope you enjoy browsing our pages and learn something about the wonderful Shetland Sheepdog. If you have any questions or would like to have a link added please feel free to email us at anytime. :)
