| Chapter 54 Diane looked up when she heard a knock at the door. Carter peeked in, with his hand over his eyes, "Di, are you decent?" She laughed, "No, but come on in." He walked in, taking his hand away, and immediately wanted to put it back. "Carter, its just a bra and panties," she said, "My bathing suit doesn't even cover this much, and you've seen me in that a hundred times." "Sorry," he said. "What's up anyway?" she asked, as B.J. and Jane were attempting to fix her hair and make-up. "Bri sent me, he had another one," Carter said. Diane sighed, "Was it bad?" "No, but it makes three since we got here. Maybe you should go talk to him?" he suggested. "OK, I'll be right there," she said, looking around for her robe. "Diane, you know it's bad luck to see the groom before the wedding," Kristin said. "Yeah, but if Nick doesn't calm down and stop having seizures there may not be a wedding," she said on her way out the door. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Here buddy, drink this," A.J. said, handing Nick a bottled water. Nick leaned back on the couch in his room with his hands over his face, "I'm n-not thirsty." "Drink it anyway," Kevin said. "You gotta calm down," Brian said, "Otherwise you're not gonna make it through the ceremony." "I-I can't help it. I'm n-nervous," Nick said. "Yeah, we see that," Howie said. Nick sighed, taking the water from A.J. and twisting the cap off. He downed half of it in one swallow. "Hey everyone dressed?" Diane asked, as she and Carter walked into the room. "Yup," A.J. said. "Aww, to bad," she teased, walking over to sit down next to Nick, "Guys, you wanna give us a few minutes?" Nick watched as everyone left the room. "I'm s-sorry," he apologized. Diane opened her arms and he settled into her embrace, "It's OK honey, but you need to calm down OK?" "I c-can't," he said. "Baby, look at me," she said. Nick looked up into her hazel eyes. "I love you. This ceremony, and those people out there aren't gonna change that. It's you and me, OK, no one else matters," she said. He smiled up at her, "How do y-you do that?" "Do what?" she asked. "S-stay so calm," he said. Diane laughed, "Are you kidding? I'm a bundle of nerves, but you know what helps me?" He shook his head. "You. All I have to do is think of you, and how much we mean to each other, and I calm right down," she explained. Nick sat up and smiled at her, "Thank you." "No problem," she said, getting up. "Nice panties," he said, seeing them through the gap in her robe. Diane smiled, "Yeah, and just think. You make it through this, and you get to help me take them off." Nick laughed, "Oh I'll definitely make it." She leaned down and kissed him, "See you out there." "K," he said, watching her leave, knowing the next time he saw her, would be when she walked down the isle. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Nick, it's time," Brian said. Nick took a deep breath and looked at himself one last time in the mirror before he stepped out of the room. "You look great," Carter said on their way down to the ball room. Nick nodded, as Misha bounced at his feet. She looked so cute in her little tux. "Di's gonna laugh her ass off when she sees the dog," A.J. smiled. "Yeah," Nick said, "Where'd you get the suit?" "I had it made," he admitted. "Aww Alex," Brian and Howie teased. "Oh shut up," A.J. said, putting his sun glasses on as the elevator opened. The group stepped out and made their way into the ball room. All the guests where seated, and the place looked stunning. "Wow," Nick said, looking around. There were candle's everywhere, and white and lavender roses abounded. The minister came over and talked with them for a moment, then they took their places. Nick took several deep breaths, fidgeting with his sleeves. Misha sat at his feet, looking like she was ready for a nap. Brian stood to Nick's side, then Carter, A.J. and Howie. Nick looked out, seeing his mom and dad sitting in the front row. They both smiled at him, and he smiled back. Then the music started and the girls started walking down the isle. Leighanne came out first, followed by B.J., Leslie, Angel and Kristin. Nick swallowed hard, knowing Diane was next. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Damn girl," Aaron said, his eyes wide. "AC.!" Kevin said. "Sorry, but ... damn," Aaron said, smiling at her. Diane laughed, "You can close your mouth now." "Sorry," he said, blushing. "You too Kev," she teased. "You look beautiful," he told her. "Thank you, I feel like some fairy princess or something," she laughed. Kevin smiled, "You are, didn't you know that?" "God, I just hope I don't throw up," she said, fidgeting with her dress. "You'll be fine. You both will," Kevin said. "You ready?" Aaron asked. She nodded, "Ready as I'll ever be." "Then shall we?" Kevin asked, extending his arm. "We shall," she said, taking Kevin's arm with her right, and Aaron's with her left. "Here we go," Aaron said, as they walked into the ball room. Nick watched her come around the corner into the room, and his mouth dropped open. She looked like an angel. Brian put his hand on his shoulder, "Breathe." Nick let out the breath he didn't know he was holding, and smiled at her as she walked toward him. Before he knew it the music ended, and she was standing next to him. Kevin had walked over to stand with the grooms men and Aaron sat down with Bob and Jane. The minister started the ceremony, but all Nick could do was stare at Diane. They recited their vows, and exchanged rings, but it all seemed like a blur. The next thing Nick knew the minister was telling him he could kiss his bride. He leaned down and cupped her cheek with his hand, then pulled her into the most sensual, romantic kiss either of them had ever shared. When they parted, it was to the hoots and hollers of everyone in the room. They both laughed, blushing, and turned to face the crowd. "Ladies and gentlemen, may I pronounce, Mr. and Mrs. Nickolas Carter," the minister said. Then Nick and Diane headed down the isle and out of the room. "We did it," Diane said, when they got into the hall. "Yeah we did," Nick said, taking a deep breath. "I love the little suit on Misha, who did that?" she asked. "A.J.," he answered. She laughed, "Figures. We gotta find him someone, he's to much of a romantic to stay single this long." Nick smiled, "Playing matchmaker are we?" "Sure why not?" she said. Nick pulled her to him as everyone came down the isle in pairs. "Well Mrs. Carter, now what do we do?" he asked. She grinned at him, "Now we party with our friends. Then later we leave and catch our flight to where ever it is you're taking me, and then we party." Nick kissed her feverishly, "Can't we go now?" he whined. She laughed, "Down boy, it'll be time to go before you know it." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The reception was wonderful. Plenty of food and drink, a live band, lots of dancing and eating to be had by all. Everyone was having a great time, telling stories and laughing. Brian nodded to Nick as he and the rest of the guys walked towards the stage. "Baby, are you ready for your surprise?" he asked. Diane smiled at him, "Of course." He took her hand and lead her to the front of the stage, grabbing a chair and placing it there for her. He kissed her on the cheek, then walked to the back of the stage as Brian and the others came out. "Hello, can I have everyone's attention please," he said. The room quieted down. "Thank you. Diane, the guys wanted to give you something special for your wedding. We each owe you a debt we know we can't repay, but maybe this will be a start. This is to you from your brothers," Brian said, as the lights went down and the stage lights went up. Then the music started. I'll be the one I guess you were lost, when I met you Still there were tears in your eyes. So out of trust, and I knew no more than mysteries and lies. There you were wild and free, reaching out like you needed me A helping hand to make it right, I am holding you all through the night I'll be the one (I'll be the one) Who will make all your sorrows undone I'll be the light (I'll be the light) When you feel like there's nowhere to run I'll be the one Diane put her hand over her mouth. She could hear Nick singing with the guys, but she couldn't see him. Then he walked out. To hold you, and make sure that you'll be alright Cause my fear is gone, and I want to Take you from darkness to light. There you were wild and free, reaching out like you needed me A helping hand to make it right, I am holding you all through the night I'll be the one (I'll be the one) Who will make all your sorrows undone I'll be the light (I'll be the light) When you feel like there's nowhere to run I'll be the one, to hold you, and make sure that you'll be alright You need me like I need you, we can share all our dreams comin' true I can show you what true love means, Just take my hand, baby please I'll be the one, I'll be the light, where you can run to make it alright I'll be the one, I'll be the light, where you can run I'll be the one, I'll be the one (I'll be the one) Who will make all your sorrows undone I'll be the light, I'll be the light (I'll be the light) When you feel like there's no where to run I'll be the one I'll be the one, I'll be the light, where you can run to make it alright I'll be the light I'll be the one, I'll be the light, where you can run to make it alright I'll be the one To hold you and make sure that you'll be alright I'll be the one Diane was brushing away tears as Nick came down from the stage. "Surprise," he said. "Oh Nick!" she cried, hugging him, "How did you...?" He smiled at her, "I just thought of you and the words came," he answered, kissing her on the cheek, "But we're not done yet." She looked at him, "Not done yet?" He shook his head, "That one was from the guys. This one is from me." He looked over and Brian started the music as he jumped back on stage. People tell me, you stay where you belong But all my life I've tried to prove them wrong They say I'm looking for, something that can't be found They say I'm missing out, that my feet don't touch the ground But there are moments, when you can't deny what's true Just an ordinary day, like when I met you Its funny how life can take new meaning You came and changed what I believe in The world on the outside's trying to pull me in But they can't touch me cause I got you. Diane laughed as the guys sang back up for Nick. They were lined up behind him, doing little choreographed moves. She smiled at Nick, and he smiled back. I got you, oh yeah I want to thank you, for all the things you've done But most for choosing me to be the one Its funny how life can take new meaning You came and changed what I believe in The world on the outside's trying to pull me in But they can't touch me cause I got you. And it hits me when I reach for you That I'm afraid you won't be there Maybe I am in to deep, but I don't care (I'm right where I belong) I got you, yeah (Now to prove them wrong) I've got you, yeah (You can't deny what's true) no They can't touch me, now that I got you I've got , I've got you (I'm right where I belong) I"ve got you baby, (Now to prove them wrong) (You can't deny what's true) No they can't touch me, cause I got you. Diane jumped from her chair and threw her arms around her husband. "Baby, I love you so much," she said. "I love you too," Nick said, kissing her. "Get a room!" A.J. yelled, as everyone laughed. "We are!" Diane called back, "As soon as we leave here." "Speaking of, shouldn't you guys get going?" Brian asked. Nick looked at his watch, "Oh yeah, we should." Everyone said their goodbyes as the couple headed for the door. Nick spotted Dr. McKenna, and walked over to him, "Did you have fun?" "Yes Nick, you throw a good party," he said. Nick smiled at him, "I'm glad you came." "So am I," the doctor said, "I'll see you in two weeks then." "Better make it three," Nick laughed, "I may need a week to recuperate." The doctor laughed and shook his head, "Have fun." "I will," Nick said, shaking his hand and then going over to collect his wife from the guys. "Come on baby, we're gonna miss our flight if we don't leave," he said. "And where are we going?" she asked, as they made their way through the crowd. Nick smiled at her, "Ever hear of Atlantis?" Diane's mouth dropped open, "The resort Atlantis? We're going there?" He nodded, "We have the honeymoon suite for the next two weeks." Diane tip toed and kissed him, "I love you Mr. Carter." He laughed, "I love you Mrs. Carter." Songs Used: The One, Backstreet Boys, Millennium I Got You, Nick Carter, Now or Never Chapter 55 |
