Chapter 27

Brian watched Gary go about the house getting it ready for whatever it was he had planned.  It had been several hours since he had woken up, and he was starting to get hungry.
Might as well forget that, he's not coming back down here, Brian thought to himself.  He had been trying to slip his hands out of the cuffs around his wrists, all he had managed to do was rub them raw.  He laid his head back and stared at the ceiling trying to think of some way to escape.  He was lost in thought when Leighanne walked through the door.

Brian looked back over at the monitors when he heard her voice.  "Lee, why are you here?" he asked the TV screens.  He watched as she walked through the house and found Gary in the kitchen.  She walked over and gave him a kiss.  Brian's heart was in his throat, he was angry and hurt at the same time.  He closed his eyes and turned his head away from the monitors.
I don't want to see this.  God please send someone to find me!

Everyone had drove back to Nick and Tara's.  No one knew what to do next, if they reported Brian missing the media would be all over it; if they didn't they might not find him.  Kevin was on the phone with Brian's parents, while everyone else sat in the kitchen.  Kira was busy trying to make something for them to eat, even though no one was really hungry.  Tara had left and walked out to the pond to be alone.

"What if she's wrong?" A.J. asked.  Nick looked at him, "Bone, has she ever been wrong yet?"  "No, but I'm just sayin what if she is?" A.J. said.  "Let's not go there until we have to," Howie said.  "Yeah, and we damn well better not have to," Nick said.  Kevin walked into the room and sat down looking defeated.  "What'd Harold and Jackie say?" Howie asked.  "They think it might be wise to wait until he's been missing for a day to report it," Kevin answered.  "How could they say that?  It's their son that's missing," A.J. said.  "A.J. if the media got ahold of this there would be an awful lot of explaining to do.  And I don't think we could ever answer all the questions.  It's best to wait on that, but that doesn't mean we aren't gonna be looking for him," Kevin said.

Kira walked over to the table with some coffee cups in her hand, "So now all we have to figure out is who would want to kidnap Brian, if that's really what happened."  The guys looked at her.  "Trust me if Tara said it, it's true," Nick said.  Kira looked at them confused, "I don't know Tara very well, but there has to be something about her for all of you to believe that so strongly."  Howie reached over and pulled Kira into his lap, "When this is over, I'll tell you the whole story," he said.  Kira smiled at him and nodded her head.

"So where do we even begin to start looking?" Howie asked.  They all just stared at each other.  "What about Leighanne?" Kira said, "She might know something."  "I doubt it, they haven't talked to each other in weeks," Nick said.  "It's worth a try though," A.J. said.  "Maybe we should wait until Tara gets back, she might have a direction to go in," Nick said.  "Maybe," Kevin said, "But I am gonna try and call Lee, she needs to know what's going on, even if they aren't talking."

Tara was laying in the tall grass by the pond.  She had been there almost since they had gotten back from the studio.  She knew Brian wasn't in the fire, she would've felt it if he was.  She just didn't know where to go, what direction to look in.
God please help me find him.  I feel like if we don't find him soon it'll be to late, please tell me where to go. Tara closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

Suddenly Tara was in the wheat field, she could see Brian in the distance.  He was surrounded by three dark figures.  She ran towards them.  When she was a few feet away she was suddenly stopped.  It was almost like an invisible wall was there, separating them.  She yelled at Brian but he couldn't hear her.  The three figures were taunting him, torturing him.  He kept trying to get away, but he couldn't.  Tara ran around them, trying from all angles to reach him, all to no avail.  She could only stand there and watch as Brian stopped fighting against the figures.  He just stood there and closed his eyes.  The three figures closed in on him, then he was gone, completely consumed by the darkness.

Tara sat straight up and screamed.  She looked around, had she fallen asleep?  She tried to calm herself, but she couldn't get the since of urgency to leave her.  She had to find Brian, and soon.  Then an image of Leighanne and the strange guy at the hospital flashed in her memory.  There was darkness around him.  Tara got up and ran toward the house, knowing she had to find out who this guy was.

Brian had found himself not being able to stop watching what was going on.  Even if he closed his eyes he could still hear it.  Leighanne and Gary were sitting down to dinner, laughing and talking about what they had done that day.  Of course everything Gary said was a lie, but he said it with such conviction that Brian had decided he really thought he had done them.  Brian could see the way Leighanne looked at and acted around Gary.  It reminded him of when they were first dating, it was the same looks.  She really liked Gary, and it was killing Brian to see it.

"God, why didn't he just kill me?  I think it would've hurt less," Brian said.
Oh, it's coming don't worry. Brian looked around, was that voice in his head or in the room?  "Who's there?" he asked.  Son of a bitch, I think he heard you. Now Brian was getting scared, the voice wasn't in his head.  "Who's there!" he said again. No one ever hears us. "I hear you, now who the hell are you?!" Brian said.  Ha Ha, well I guess he does hear us.  Might as well show him who he's talking to. Suddenly two dark figures appeared in the room.  Brian held his breath, he knew these two weren't going to be friendly.  "Who are you?" he asked.

"That's a good question.  I assume you know what we aren't," one of the figures said.  Brian just looked at it.  "OK then, since you know that, you must know why we're here," the other figure said.  Brian looked from one to the other, "Why don't you enlighten me?"  "Oh, this one is gonna be fun.  Can't wait to break him down," the second figure said.  "All in due time my friend," the first said.  The first figure walked over and bent down close to Brian's face, "You see, we're here to make sure things go as planned.  That means you don't leave here, and no one finds you."  Brian's heart was beating so hard he could feel it, and his head was starting to hurt.  He closed his eyes and turned his head away from the figure.

"Do you have names?" Brian asked.  "Yes, I'm Hathath and my friend over there is Tiras," the first figure said.  Brian looked back over, "Fear and Longing?"  Tiras looked at Hathath, "Boy knows his Old Testament doesn't he."  Hathath nodded his head, "And Shaaph is with your friend Gary."  "He's not my friend," Brian said, "So let me get this straight, you're names mean what you are?"  Tiras pecked Brian on the forehead, "Smart boy."  "So Division stays with him all the time?" Brian asked.  "Now you're gettin it," Hathath said.  Brian lay there not knowing what to do, he was surrounded by darkness.  He looked up at the monitors, Gary and Leighanne were on the couch, involved in a heavy make out session.  "You see, she really does love him," Tiras said.  "Shut up," Brian said through clenched teeth.  Hathath laughed, "She's gonna be with him for the rest of her life, she's left you behind.  She doesn't love you."  Brian jerked toward him as far as the chains would let him, "Shut the hell up!!!!!"

"Think we hit a nerve," Hathath said.  Brian looked back at the screens to see Gary and Leighanne going into the bedroom.  He closed his eyes as a tear made its way down the side of his face,
God please help me! Tiras leaned down and whispered in Brian's ear, "He can't help you now, no one can."
