Stamping on Passport

According to the law any Pakistani passport holder working in any other country must get the protector of immigration stamp on his/her passport. This rule has always been there but it was not implemented however now there is a lot of strictness and I personally know people who have been prevented by the immigration authorities from boarding the plane.

So if you are working already in US/Singapore etc. and are visiting Pakistan or you are planning to leave Pakistan for the first time for job purposes do get this stamping done on your passport. The office is known as "Protector of immigration" in Lahore its in G block model town and in Karachi its on shaheed-e-milat road. The office will stamp your passport, give you a life insurance policy of 200,000 rupees (in case of your death abroad this money can be claimed by the beneficiary) and the labor attaches in the Pakistani embassy will provide you the legal assistance in case you are caught in jail. (at least that is what its supposed to be for).

The following is the process for getting the protector stamp done (Thank you Naveed Ahmed for sharing the info)

  1. The POI office in Lahore is: 117-G, Model Town Lahore, phone: 850050, 855815
  2. You need the following things in order to get the stamp:
  3. Passport original and 4 photo copies
    ID Card 4 photo copies
    Photograph 1
    6000/- Rs. (500 Insurance + 5500 stamp fees)
Agreement/Offer letter from the employing company original and 4 photocopies
INS Notice of Action original and 4 photo copies
  4. You will be required to fill in some forms and submit the insurance 500/- Rs at the office and then go to National Bank at C block Model town to submit the 5500/- Fee. Then comeback at the office and submit all the receipts and photocopies. They'll then tell you to come back around 1.30 PM to 2.00 PM and get your passport.

As its mandatory so to avoid hassle and trouble I would suggest strongly that you take the time to get this stamping done.

You have get assessment from ACS (Austrian Computer Society). You have to send them all your educational documents, experience letters, CV, birth certificate etc. All documents should be in English, if not, you have to get it translated in English. The fee is around 370$ (Australian). They respond within 4-6 weeks.

Once you get the assessment from ACS you have to fill up the Immigration forms, you can get the Immigration Booklet from Australian Embassy for RS 350/-. You must have to submit the IELTS score. IELTS is a test just like TOEFL. You would get the call for medical. And initially 2 years visa is stamped. After 2 years you may get the Australian Passport

You have to score min 5 band in each section and over all in IELTS test, which is relatively easy.

You can get papers of medical within 10-15 days after submitting papers to AU high commission.

You can get bonus point for Urdu language.

You can get bonus point for these tools (Oracle, Cisco, NT, C++, Java etc)

There is an option i.e. Skill Matching on the migration form. You have to write a paragraph describing your skill set. Your information is added in government's database. If some employer from AUS pick you, your case is processed more fast.

Australia , unlike Canada, gives 20,000 migrations. So the number is quite small. And cases are processed on priority and demand basis.
