Words of the ...

... time span of your choice

First of all, yes I am trying to make you dizzy/ruin your eyes/throw up your hands in frustration/cringe at the choice of background. I like the background, and so I'm keeping it despite the fact that it's not suitable as a background and it is very difficult to find a legible font colour. And it's not like anybody actually reads this stuff, do they?

Here's my motivation for this page:

Once upon a time, I took an introductory German course. I aced that class. But since I never used what little I had learned, I forgot most of it. I've been meaning to relearn it, and more. Recently, I found a program that is supposed to help you learn new languages. We'll see how well it works for me, but in the meantime it has me thinking about words.

Despite the fact that I'm supposedly fluent in Latvian, I find my vocabulary is rather limited. I started working on expanding it last fall, but gave up after a couple of months. Since I'm trying to pick up German again, I should restart that, too.

Naturally, I don't have the time or inclination to find new words everyday. Besides, if you want a word of the day, there are plenty of places on the internet where you can find one. My intention is only to add words whenever I come across ones that I find interesting or appropriate, or just feel like adding.
