12th May: Breakfast Elaine style reminded us firmly that we were in the sub-tropics: muesli, yogurt, cereal, fruit salad and honey... felt like a Sunday morning... oh- it was. Michael and I had grand plans to seize the day and get over to North Stradbroke Island, but, well I guess it just wasn't meant to be. The morning evaporated like a backpackers budget, leaving us Sunday arvo to retrieve some camping gear from the generous Elaine's father and head off.. Simple? Well after a few beers, some net surfing and while purveying the view of the Brisbane River from the 4th floor of the riverside appartment building, our plans seemed a little shakey. More beers and fish and chips followed (love local knowledge Elaine) and we finally got a chance to tackle the bottle of Frangelico that Mike had been hoarding since Sarah was last in the country. Turned into a day well spent I think.. :- )
