A photography artist Oliver Cvijovic wanted a photograph of Petrovic for his “portraits” series of work. When he got home he was considerably worried and felt uneasy. “ I came to you to photograph “Dragan Petrovic the photographer” but instead I ended up with a freezer repairman. I felt very unpleasant that evening. I already got home when I realized that you have actually changed your job! I would never leave photography, I am aware of the present difficulties, but we will overcome them somehow.”

The August salon was nice, they even served wine. Dragan.: The work “freezer servicing” consists of five sections (for now)

1. Spreading the rumors (promotion of rumors as an art medium, which is already well established in this area) 2. Showing up at the grand opening of the October salon dressed as a handyman. 3. Using every opportunity to talk to as many artists as possible and to appear in many mass media events. 4. Routine servicing of freezers at the September salon at the SKC gallery in October 04. 5. Leposavic: You have brought in a piece outside of Anda Rottenberg’s control…. And could you please explain what you meant when you said:” The salon is a political exhibition…..”?

D.P. that is how the artists were chosen…… if you read between the lines of all the work chosen for the show…..what you end up with is that we all get along together, all the nations worldwide, that the borders don’t matter, there’s one Europe for all of us! But the virtues of our own country weren’t properly presented. Prof. Magda Carneci said that in the virtues of a Balkan soul, which is by nature fiery, and just a little bit dirty can one can find a lot of nobleness.

Do you think that the idea of globalization has found it’s way through to the salon?

………That is the general idea that one reads between the lines……………

….it’s because of that concept that some of the most valuable artwork from this area didn’t get its place at this year’s salon.
