Teaching History by Living History
Every year I try to bring local historical reenactors to my American History classes. Why? To quote one local reenactor,

"Because history is too important to be left to teachers."

I agree. History is something that needs to be experienced first hand, not simply taught. To help accomplish this, I have hosted Living History Days at Waynesfield-Goshen Schools. Although the emphasis was on the Civil War,  local reenactors utilized their enthusiasm and expertise to bring a variety of time periods and experiences to life.
