Reenacting
Every year I try to have some local reenactors present in my classroom. If you are not familar with reenacting, you need to take a look for yourself. Reenactment is a hobby that remembers, honors andeducates about the greatest and most destructive war ever fought on American soil. Reenactors range form the casual uniform wearer to the hard-core preservationist. If you have watched movies like
Gettysburg or Gods and Generals you have already seen thousands of reenactors in action. They are a remarkable source of information and interest and a valuable resource in preserving our nation's heritage. Click on the links below for more information.
Sutlers
Interested in reenacting? Interested in the items I wear or display in class? Check these stores for an idea of what is availble.
During the Civil War a sutler was a person who supplied soldiers with the basic necessities and accompniments of life. Everything from clothing to tools to kitchen utensils. The links below will connect you to several sutler resources.
