Peoria, 290 miles, 2.5 miles, state capitol, 8 caches

The day started at the Falls of the Ohio State Park. Here, if the water's low enough, you can walk on an ancient reef of many many fossils. There are more than 4 earth caches there, and we found the information for those 4. We got into the museum free because of our local membership, so it was a wonderful morning. But we had to keep going, places to go, things to see.

We drove on up to Indianapolis past the Fuzzy Zoeller Covered Bridge. Who knew? And to the Statehouse in Indiana. This is Sunday, they are closed. We first stopped at what should have been the cache for that, at a Cuban restaurant, for a good lunch. The lunch was great, but the coordinates bounced us across the street, and the waiter knew nothing about any cache, so we didn't find it. We had to go to an alternate, the Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial, which is jaw-dropping. Beautiful!! We were approached by a panhandler just as we found the cache so had to move on and sign it elsewhere then replace it.

Then we started driving driving driving. One little cache was neat, at a crossroads. We crossed into Illinois at 4:15. I saw another dead deer, for a sad total of three so far on the trip.

ObGoe. We pulled into Peoria about 7 and called the family, then went to dinner at McDonald's. Service was so bad I copied down the complaint number, but then I didn't call. We went to the house and hung out, looking at the graduation pictures and picking the one we would want. Peoria has a scale model solar system I would like to see. I note the "look who's 40" towhead has metallic gray hair now. I'm guessing he and Vince got "balding" genes from me, sorry guys. This because while Rich is getting thin there now, he didn't start in his 30s.
