Don Surber: "It is obvious that the Tea Parties are a success because 1. the liberal elites are mocking it (making oral sex jokes, no less) and now 2. Republicans are trying to horn in."
Report: 110 patients starved to death in Scottish hospitals last year.Well, at least the National Health Service saved money, right?

The United Kingdom is the canary in the mine of medicine. It is dying. And yet Obama wants us to go in anyway.
Dont be surprised if life/death decisions are also based on your politics. I suspect that the word wont even be part of the health care lexicon. But judging by the thug-like tactics employed by this administration so far, its not out of the realm of possibilty that they would keep a Ted Kennedy alive forever while denying even an aspirin to a Rush Limbaugh.
Today, 429 miles, 1.5 miles walked, 11 caches.
I woke up at 5:30 all sniffly. Fortunately, I packed Claritin. Rich slept in, which was good. Breakfast at the motel was worthless, so we went down to IHOP and I had a yummy spinach-mushroom omelette.
I drove first again, about 105 miles. We started off at 8:50. I stopped for two caches, then just drove and drove to a rest area. From there we went to Needles, where gas was 2.89 a gallon. A few miles farther, in Arizona, it was 1.99 a gallon, so we filled up there. Lunch was in Kingman, at the Roadrunner Cafe. I had a turkey bacon club sandwich and cole slaw. The slaw was really good. I enjoyed the waitress, too. There was a perky one in the morning at IHOP, as well. It underlined how unsatisfactory we found last night's waitress. She did her job, but like a short-timer.
After lunch, we walked around Locomotive Park, and saw a really interesting black bird (it has a long thin bill and a fancy tail. The only thing I saw in the bird book that was similar is a grackle. I thought grackles croaked rather than sang, and this bird has a nice song.)
Back on the road at 2:05. Then we began to realize we could find caches at various altitudes which fulfill requirements for the Feet in the Sand, Head in the Clouds challenge cache. We got 5 of the 6 as we approached Winslow.
At one rest area, there's a cache called "Wanderlust" and you're supposed to leave maps and news about things to see. I left an antique Amoco map and got a map of Tennessee, how helpful!
I saw ruins to the side of the road, with the words "Mountain Lions" painted on one building. Apparently a Rte. 66 roadside zoo. I feel for the animals all these years later.
In Winslow we went an stood on the corner. It's a very popular spot. We had to find the sculptor's name, and people were waiting to take their pictures. Afterwards we went into the gift store, and, well, some CARS t-shirts grabbed me and made me take them. I think we got them too big: it's probably OK for Teddy but Eric will swim in his, and I even got advice from Vince. I let Rich talk me into the wrong sizes. Oh, well, he'll grow into it.
We got into our motel. As usual, an Indian is running it, but not as usual, this is an American Indian! We couldn't find anywhere to eat, since the sidewalks are rolled up at 7:30 or so, but we did get a meal at McDonald's. Since then I've been organizing the next two days and downloading photos, and now I'm ready for bed!
