We piled into the car and headed off to San Jose to go to Genevieve's First Communion. We got there early enough to look for our cache-of-the-day close to the church, and the nice thing is that it is part of the Solar System series that we chose for cache #1000. We were at the church in plenty of time, and because Genevieve was reading, our seats were right in the second row. There were about 20 kids... the group is spread out over the three Masses, which means people have a chance to find a seat. I decided that I could relate to St. Martin of Tours church, if it wasn't such a commute. The Mass was beautiful and geared just right for the kids. Father Chris sat down on a step and had the kids gather around for the homily.
Afterwards Monica had a brunch, and besides us there were Mark's mother and sister and aunt and uncle and a cousin I've not met before, and a friend of Monica's I haven't seen for years. Nice party. Everyone gave Genevieve nice stuff, and though we were afraid we'd been copied, the other necklaces were a cross and a locket, and ours was a St. Genevieve medal. Niki had picked out a beautiful Jerusalem stone with the Guardian Angel prayer on it.
At the church, rules to avoid getting sick, and a little pandemic pamphlet apparently saved over from the Avian Flu scare.
Monica demonstrated her bubble-blowing talent. Genevieve rigged it so Vince couldn't do as well, by only giving him one stick of gum. Eric asked her for more and she said she was out, so he suggested going to the store, no it's Sunday, so he said they could make some and Genevieve told him that was against the law. Heh.
I wore the Mother's Day necklace Niki made me. Monica had a reed diffuser for me. I'd never heard of them but am looking forward to trying it... after we get back. Two cats who are left to their own devices can get into a LOT of trouble!
Eric is reading well and tonight he demonstrated his ability to Rich.
