Those who are wringing their hands and shouting so loudly for 'heads to roll' over [the Iraq prison abuse] seem to have conveniently overlooked the fact that someone's head has rolled -- that of another innocent American brutally murdered by terrorists. Why is it that there's more indignation over a photo of a prisoner with underwear on his head than over the video of a young American with no head at all?-- Sen. Zell Miller, Georgia Democrat
OK, I've had it. While the prison guards at Abu Ghraib did go too far, it really wasn't torture. Humiliation probably works. These so-called victims are the sort of people who behead bystanding Americans who are there to help. Would you rather wear underpants on your head or lose your head? And what did they find out from these shamed prisoners? Did it save lives? That officer who let off a gun near a prisoner was also censured, and yet, what future horrors did it prevent?
Are these the guys who amputated people's hands? What sort of thing did they do when they were on the other side of the bars?
Polipundit has an article which points out that torture could be useful (and it was hazing, really.) Did it elicit information? Here is another example. These people prevented a big bombing by KILLING one of the terrorists they were questioning. And yet the likes of Ted Kennedy, the Raddled Old Drunk, say that we're morally equivalent to Saddam. (He wouldn't know a moral if it climbed out of the Chappaquiddick and danced in front of him.) The Alabama Mobile Register says Kennedy should resign.
Where is the outrage about Nick Berg? Do they hate Bush this much, that they don't care if we lose the WOT as long as he loses the election? Seriously, I don't want my grandsons beheaded and my granddaughters chattel in burqas! I'm tired of the abuse story, and only hope that once more the Donks are overplaying their hands.
Glenn: "Well, you know, it's not an atrocity if it's not committed by an American. That's international law, or something. . . ."
Lt. Smash has a roundup of news on Sarin gas. But you see, it CAN'T be Sarin, because Iraq has no WMD.
Listen, if the Left believes that 7 soldiers out of 150 thousand abusing Iraqis detainees can sully the honor of the whole military, then this one shell is proof that Saddam had an extensive WMD program.Nonsense. Iraq has no WMDs.
