May 11: Pets

Sailor was thrilled when he was home again. He lost about 5 pounds while we were gone, and the vet thought that she saw signs of arthritis in his hips. Well, we have been watching him, and haven't seen any signs of that so far. Yes, he's slower than he was and sleeps more, but he seems fine.

Roni's cat Jeeves is very ill. Apparently he's had an infection of unknown origin and yesterday had abdominal bleeding. She called today and he might be better. They saw him yesterday and he was looking pretty good considering all the tubes and wires. They got to stay till Alex had dismantled the room.

We're getting reminder notes from the vet about Fitch. Jeeves didn't have the feline leukemia or feline AIDS, but I really have to get F. in soon. However, we'll have to pay this kennel/checkup/flea medication bill off first.

So, they beheaded this guy to get revenge for their guys getting laughed at by a woman? What was the excuse for the Italian? The one Al-Jazeerah wouldn't show the video on because he was so brave? Or what was the excuse for Daniel Pearl? And, while we're about it, this is the same Al Qaeda that didn't actually have any connection to Iraq?

Who do AlQaeda want as President? They saw some signs of weakness with the hand-wringing over the POW abuse, and thought maybe they could make us retreat again. They want Kerry.

CBS and the likes of Ted Kennedy should apologize to Berg's family. What are the odds?

James Taranto: "It's a grotesque and timely reminder of who our real enemies are. Ted Kennedy, take note."

More on the Raddled Old Drunk.

Andrew Sullivan comments:

And they are as stupid as they are evil. Iraqis now have contrasting images. Do they want to be run by people who cut innocent people's throats at will or by people who have removed a dictator and are investigating unethical abuse of prison inmates? Zarqawi has now done something for our morale as well as his. He has reminded us of the real enemy; and he has reminded the Iraqis.

More pictures from Iraq.

The jingle truck.

And yet another iraq picture!

Missing Headlines.

Bill Quick comments: 'To paraphase another famous general, even - or especially - in a religious war, "God fights on the side with the best artillery."

'That would be us.'

Stephen Green has questions. I especially like the first comment.

Kofi's Coverup:

If abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. soldiers demands an accounting, so too does the world-wide conspiracy of bribery that helped prop up Saddam Hussein's torture-based regime.

Hey, the cowboys are connected!

Roni told me about this... it started Wednesday. We were there Monday and Tuesday. Whew! We saw the smoke from another one on Monday, but that's not the one that got away.

White ticket holders only?
