January 30: A Little North

Behold the nifty graphic in the upper left! I forwarded the directions to Rich because the guy who showed me how put up an example that called us "Geocachers Extraordinaire." Heh. I thought Rich would be pleased... he liked it when a Grass Valley guy said he was worried that his cache wasn't there because "when SAILORSCODGERS don't find it, it's a big deal." His reaction to the graphic? A shrug. Sometimes he's a real disappointment! Also, I'm actually working on, and will complete, the calendar for this month's archives!! Shrug.

First thing this morning we went charging out in the rain to find a cache right behind our church. First to find on this one! We also went looking for another, but it really was raining hard and we were having no luck. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, because someone else found it at 6:30 AM!

Today we went up to get all the new caches along Watt. We got two of them on Wednesday, and this was our attempt to finish. The first was up next to where Casey used to live, near a huge oak tree. The area is, unfortunately, a dumping ground. Too bad. Then we went up next to Gibson Ranch Park where there's a cache along a horse trail. We felt a bit like sneaks as we walked through two fences, but it's public ground.

Next were two along Watt from the same parking spot, but we decided to only go for one, since we couldn't figure out which side of the creek the other was on, or a decent way to walk there, and there appeared to be a dead dog along the way. It'll wait.

Back to Antelope, where there was a pretty big cache under a bush just waiting for us, and then we finished at another one in a park we've visited before. This one was on the backside of a creek and it looked for awhile like we might fall in. That's 749 caches.

Rich had fetched me a travel bug from a nearby cache, and we got one from the Fiddyment cache the other day, and finally we stopped today at the fourth cache we ever found, back on May Day, to pick up a geocoin. I wanted some ammunition to take to San Jose tomorrow when we visit some TB hotels.

Last night's debate.

The State Lege is still weird... we have a fiscal crisis of epic proportions and they are passing bills on feng shui and "redskins." They want the state motto to be "Don't Trash California." This is a worthwhile thought, of course, but hardly a gummint matter. These guys need to become part-timers!
