The Shire of the Forgotten Crossroads Battlegames: Directions

An Amtgard Battle

Our battlegames are every first, third, and fourth Saturday of the month. They are held at Alex Caisse Park in Willimantic. Just drive to the Eastbrook Mobile Station in Willimantic (at the Junction of US 6 and CT 195). Alex Caisse is the park you see. We're over in the flat area behind the spring. That spring is good and cold, by the way, so bring a flagen for it.

Our tourneys and Althings are held in Jillson Square on the second Saturday of the month. Drive down from Alex Caisse Park until you reach Main Street. Jillson is the big green on your right. If the green is occupied we will be at Alex Caise Park.

Directions from some common starting points:

  • UCONN:Get on Rt. 195 South like you're going to the Eastbrook Mall. Go past the mall and drive over the divided highway (Rt. 6). The park is on your right. Go to the far end from here (by the spring). If you are going to Jillson, drive through the next two lights and take the next right. The big grassy area is Jillson.
  • Hartford/West Hartford:Get onto I-84 East. In East Hartford, get onto I-384 East. When I-384 ends, get onto Rt. 6 East. This is two lane. About ten or so miles later, you'll come to a four way intersection with Rt. 66 and a traffic light (you'll pass Columbia Ford on you right, just before the light). Turn left onto the divided highway (this is still Rt. 6) and get off at the second exit (for UCONN and ECSU). Go straight at the light onto the access road. At the next light turn right. This is Rt. 195 and the park is on your right. If you are going to Jillson, drive through the next two lights and take the next right. The big grassy area is Jillson.
  • Manchester/Veron:Get on US 44 in Manchester (Tolland Turnpike). When it ends at I-384 get onto Rt. 6 (at Bolton).
  • Norwich/Groton/New London:Get on Rt.32 North to Willimantic. Once you're in Willimantic, You'll come to a light with a bridge with frogs on thread spools to your right. Turn right and go over the bridge. Go through the light at the other side. Jillson (for Tourneys) is on your left. Go straight through three more lights for Alex Caise Park (most Saturdays). About two blocks later, you'll see the park on your left.
