In a Lost Age...
Power is balanced among four great Nations: Water, Earth, Fire, Air.
An order made up of men and women lead each nation. These masters possess the ability to manipulate their native element. They call themselves Waterbenders, Earthbenders, Firebenders, and Airbenders.
The most powerful bender in the world is the Avatar, the spirit of the planet incarnate.
He alone masters all four elements and maintains world order.
Disaster Strikes...
...when the current Avatar dies. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the
Fire Nation's leader launches a global war. His goal - eliminate the Water,
Earth, and Air Nations, so that the Fire Nation may rule for eternity.
100 Years Later, the Avatar Returns...
With the Fire Nation on the brink of global domination, a young girl and her
brother living in the South Pole make an amazing discovery. Enclosed within
an iceburg for 100 years, a 12-year old Airbender has miraculously survived.
Waking up hungry for food and adventure, the boy reveals himself as the Avatar.
But will this irresponsible kid accept his destiny in time to save the world?
The current Avatar frozen in ice. |
What is the Avatar?
The Avatar is the incarnation of the Spirit of the Planet in human form.
There is only one Avatar, who reincarnates himself through the centuries.
Each time the Avatar dies, it is reborn into the next nation. The successive
cycle mirrors the order of the seasons:
Water Tribes - winter
Earth Kingdom - spring
Fire Nation - summer
Air Nomads - autumn
The cycle provides a natural balance between the elements. This way, no single
nation can grow stronger than another.
Upon the death of an Avatar, Bending masters from the successive nation conduct a search to find the child reincarnate. (The successor is expected to show signs of continuity with the one who died, such as being born within a week of the death.) These Benders carefully train the new Avatar to prepare him for his high position. First, he becomes proficient with his native element. Then, when the Avaatr reaches maturity, he travels the world and studies with Masters from the other three Bending disciplines. Upon completion of his training, the Avatar possseses sole control of all four elements.
And so, the nations work to nurture the Avatar, whose responsibility it is to keep Water, Earth, Fire, and Air in harmony with each other and the world.
![]() Chapter 1: Into the Storm synopsis |
In A Lost Age...
For 100 years, the ruthless Fire Nation has waged war against the Earth
and Water tribes. Now, with the rumors of the Avatar's return swirling,
their march of conquest has become even more intense. Begin the Avatar:
Autumn Twilight 3D RPG by picking one of four characters from the Earth
and Water tribes. Then battle through three huge chapters filled with Fire
Nation foes, unspeakable monsters, and all the adventure and mystery of
the Avatar world!
Chapter I: Into the Storm
The shadow of war hangs over the Earth Kingdom as the Fire Nation prepares
an all-out assault. You'll join forces with Earth Nation soldiers to repel
the invaders. A mad Fire Nation General's diabolical plot will be revealed,
and you'll embark on an epic quest to stop him!
Chapter II: Sand and Fire
You'll travel to a sun-baked desert, where a band of nomads enjoys a wicked
brand of entertainment. Then on to the lush forests of the Earth Kingdom,
whose beauty hides many dangers. Finally, you must reach the Grand Fortress
City of Ben Teng, as a messenger bearing ill tidings.

Extra - Avatar Exclusive Art Collection
You can build your collection by playing the Avatar: Autumn Twilight online
game, and collecting the art scrolls that are hidden throughout the world.
Each scroll contains a piece of exclusive Avatar art you won't be able to
see anywhere else. Once you've collected a scroll, the artwork will appear
in one of the slots, and you can click to view it. There are 12 scrolls
to collect in all, but they're well hidden, so search diligently, young
Bender!
Personal Notes & Recommendations:
The story in this game coincides with the story of the Avatar series as
far as the struggles of the other nations are concerned. You will not meet
the main characters of the show (i.e. Aang, Zuko, etc). The artwork matches
that of the series. Don't expect seamless Final Fantasy or Halo graphic
though as the rendering is more akin to older 3D games found on N64 or PS1.
I do not recommend this game for younger children (ages 9 and under) unless they are comfortable with playing on a PC and have MMORPG-like reaction. This is an action game and is not turn-based as common in most RPGs - which makes it that much harder for them. Depending on which character they start off with, they may have to do a lot of leveling up to get past the harder enemies which increases with each area.
Expect to wait for the game to load! If you have a slow connection and your internet provider has a habit of logging you out after X amount of time, I don't recommend you play this game. If you have fast internet connection, then go for it! It is a wonderful game and enhances the Avatar world that much more.
![]() Autumn Twilight main page. Select your character and play! |
You get to choose between four characters to play, each pair in the Earth Nation or Water Tribe. Here is a run-down of each character...
Name: Yong Wing
Type: Earthbender
Gender: Male
Age: ?
Strength: 5
Yi-Zi: 2
Spirit: 2
Yong Wing has heard rumors for months - old men whispering in the market:
"It's the Fire Nation... they are coming." Now the horizon billowed
with smoke, tracing their war path to the gates of his village. The gift he
was born with would now be tested... Yong Wing would need all the strength
of the Earth to stand against the might of the Fire Nation.
Note: The best character to start off with considering the
high "Strength" which equals your characters Life Points (aka HP
- Hit Points).
Name: Ling Ushi
Type: Earthbender
Gender: Female
Age: ?
Strength: 3
Yi-Zi: 4
Spirit: 2
When the Fire Nation invaded, Ling Ushi's father forbade her from joining
the fight or using her Earthbending. When she resisted, he locked her in the
barn with the oxen. But he forgot about the dirt floor. She was sure the boulder
she sent through the back wall of the barn woke the old man up - but she didn't
hang around long enough to find out.
Note: The best female character to start off with, with Ling
being 3rd overall as being best to start your game with.

![]() Characters Yong Wing, Ling Ushi, Jin Hu, and Mei Ying |
Name: Jin Hu
Type: Waterbender
Gender: Male
Age: ?
Strength: 3
Yi-Zi: 3
Spirit: 3
From the time he was a young boy, Jin Hu's whole village knew of his ability
to control water, to make it leap and fly and twist. This Waterbender's gentle
nature hid uncommon bravery, and now, with the Fire Nation on the march, he
would be challanged to live up to his name's meaning: Golden Tiger.
Note: The second best character to start off considering
the equal distribution among his stats.
Name: Mei Ying
Type: Waterbender
Age: 19
Strength: 2
Yi-Zi: 3
Spirit: 4
"Beautiful Flower", they called her. Mei Ying was indeed delicate
and refined, but all the boys in town knew of her legendary temper - and of
her ability to embarress them at will with her Waterbending! But childish
games were far from her mind now, as she sets off on a journey to stop the
Fire Nation's evil plans...
Note: The last character you should try. I happened to choose
her as my first character - I died the first time I played. Luckily, I'm a
quick learner and I breezed through the first chapter and ended it with Mei
at Level 6.
In-Game Waterbending Powers:
~Level 1~
You start out with these basic moves. They do not take many Chi points to
use but are weak when up against powerful enemies. If you would like to use
these attackes, press 1 while in combat mode.
Ice Dagger - a frozen dagger of ice, quickly formed and thrown.
It's a long range attack that is useful for fighting powerful enemies you
would rather avoid or if you're low on HP. Press the left mouse button to
use.
Spout of Water - this is an area attack which calls forth
a burst of water all around you. It produces more damage than the Ice Dagger
but takes longer to execute and it also takes up more Chi. Press right mouse
button to use.
~Level 2~
You can access these moves by pressing 2 while in combat mode. Help the old
man find his 3 Fur Pigs in the village and he gives you this reward by talking
to a guy at the shrine.
Water Whip - Launch a stream of water at your enemy. Use
by clicking the left mouse button. Line attack - medium range.
Water Stream - Area attack. Use by clicking the rightmouse
button.
~Level 3~
Use these moves by pressing 3 when in battle mode. Find the old man near the
shrine and he will automatically teach you these moves.
Frozen Spear - This forzen javelin will make easy sport of
your enemies! Use the left mouse button to launch it. Line attack - medium
range.
Hail - Hurl a storm of hail stones at your opponents with
this powerful move! Use the right mouse button to launch it. Area attack.

Some hints to help you beat the Autumn Twilight game.
- You can find items by searching the edges of the path as well as standalone areas such as groups of rocks, a tree, or campfire. You can only search for items when you're not in combat. Items you may find include: Ancient Tome (increase experience points), Herb (recover HP), and Ancient Scroll (Avatar artwork). In most cases, items may be found in the same area as before except for Ancient Scrolls - those get placed randomly in the map.
![]() Waterbending Level 3. |
- If you are low on HP, use your long range attacks to hit the enemies. If they close in on you, quickly double press "a" (left-flip), "s" (backflip), or "d" (right-flip) to move out of the way. You cannot do a forward flip (i.e. "e" button) unfortunately so make sure you are aware of your surroundings and make sure you have room to jump left, right, or back.
- If you find an Herb but your HP is high, leave it there until you combat all the enemies in the area. There is usually only one Herb in the path. Save this Herb for last until after you defeat all the enemies. This way, you are fully recharged and ready to move to the next area - and you'll be ready for any ambushes to boot!
- Should you accidentally minimize the screen to it's original size, your best bet is to quit the game. Just press "h" to get to your character stats page and click on "Quit" on the lower left-hand side. The game will save all your information so you can start where you last took off quite easily. If you do continue your game, you have to make slight movements with your mouse... It's difficult but it can be done.
- Once you finish a Chapter, you can no longer go back. I suggest you go through the areas within the Chapter one last time and level up if you had trouble going defeating the enemies.
- Talk to everyone in the village. Help people and you shall be rewarded with items or more bending moves.
- When traveling in the world map, should the flag (indicating you) turn into crossed swords, it means that you were ambushed. Even though the load bar may be low, be prepared to fight because once you enter the region, the enemies will automatically attact you. Be careful!
