World of Avatar Bio:
The Air Temple Monks are a peaceful lot, following the spiritual path. All
is not seriousness among them though as they can be mischievous at times.
For example, Monk Gyatso and his pupil, Aang, Airbended several cakes onto
some meditating monks (see below). They also have a game called Air Ball
(see below for more info). All Air Temple Monks are males and most can likely
Airbend. They all sport a blue arrow tattoo on their head, both their hands,
and their feet. The tattoos are a tribute to the flying bison, a sacred
animal among the Air Nomads which naturally has arrows on their coat. The
monks live atop a high mountain that may only be reached by flying bison's,
according to Aang. It is unknown how the Fire Nation reached the Southern
Air Temple but they raided the place and left no one alive from the people
to the flying bison and flying-lemurs also living in the sanctuary.

Clothes:
Monks wear a flowing orange robe with a sash at their waist and blacks pants
underneath while their student outfits are more wear tolerant with pants,
a shirt, and a short cape.

Airbending Games:
One of the games Airbenders play is called Air Ball. The court is made up
of varying heights of logs which is used for standing on and moving the
ball from one area of the court to another by having it hit and bounce off
of it. At each end are sqaure boards that each player stands before. In
the center of the board is a moving circular middle which acts a sort of
"hoop". Each player must prevent the ball from going through the
hoop. The player with the most points wins the game. It is not known if
Monks also played Air Ball but the students most likely did.

World of Avatar Bio:
Kyoshi was born on an Earth Nation Island which was later renamed after her
and is now called Kyoshi Island. She is the founder of the Kyoshi Island Warriors,
comprised of an all female fighting team, and most likely developed their
fighting style as well as their distinct fighting uniform of green [1] plus
their use of weapons - fans. Her legacy still fourishes even centuries after
her death with what looks like very little change in tradition.
Avatar Kyoshi was born under the Earth Cycle and is said to have died 400 centuries ago from the current time in Avatar. This means that she technically died 300 years from when Aang was born into the Air Cycle. It is unknown at what age she passed away but most of her images show her as a fairly young woman in her 20's to 30's. Aside from the statue erected in her honor at Kyoshi Island [2], her image can also be found in the Earth Temple along with several other Avatar's born under the Earth Cycle [3].

Kyoshi's clothing is comrpised of two robes. One is sleeveless and goes over
a long-sleeve robe of gold with green trim.

the new Avatar has awoken to fulfill his destiny. And he's only 12...

World of Avatar Bio:
Avatar Roku was the previous Avatar before Aang. He was born under the Fire
Cycle and originated from the Fire Nation. He lived to a ripe old age but
no one knows what happened to him in his final days - it is said that he just
disappeared one day. He kept the peace in the world during his reign as Avatar
but when he disappeared, the Fire Nation took the opportunity and lead a massive
war against the other nations.
During his time, he created the Fire Temple located on a crescent island in the Fire Nation near Earth Kingdom waters. It's situated on a volcanic island, atop a high rise on the isle. It's a tall temple resembling a pagoda. The lower layer is comprised of a maze which ultimately leads up to the top-most floor that is Avatar Roku's sanctuary. There are secret passages in the temple which leads through a cavern next to some lava flows and a long winding staircase. In the top floor, the columns are decorated with winding dragons - possibly a tribute to Avatar Roku's spirit guide which is a dragon.
Although he has passed on, his spirit still lives on and is a part of Aang. During the Winter Solstice, when the spirit world and the real world combine as one, one may speak with Avatar Roku in his sanctuary when the light hits his eyes. After the destruction of the Fire Temple, the only other effigy left or Avatar Roku is in the Southern Air Temple sanctuary where Roku is lined up with all the previous Avatar reincarnates.
Clothes:
Avatar Roku wears a long flowing robe in a kimono/hakama-type style with a
sash at his waist. He also wears gauntlets under his sleeves [A].
Bending Moves:
Avatar Roku is a master of all the elements. We actually see him bending in
the opening sequence of the show where he bends the four elements on top of
a tall rock and disappears after airbending. The other bending we actually
see him performing is during the conclusion of Episode 8: Avatar Roku. Here,
he merges with Aang and repels the Fire Nation attack by bending the fire
and returning them in a giant wave of fire.

World of Avatar Bio:
Since he was young, Bumi has always looked at thinks at a different light.
Instead of approaching things that way most people would look at them, Bumi
comes at it at another angle and creates a different use. For example, the
mailing system of Omashu is just normally thought of as a series of delivery
systems from the highest reaches of Omashu to the ground level. Bumi saw them
as a giant slide and used it as a playground.
In his older years, Bumi has not changed much. He still thinks out-of-the-box but we find out more about him such as his fondness for "messing" with people, Genemite rock candy, he has a dog named Flopsie, love making jokes, and that he has become King of Omashu and the most powerful Earthbender in the world.
Clothes:
Young Bumi wore a simple shirt, belt, and pants. In is older years, though,
his clothing changed. He wears a long pancho-type coat that he can easily
take off should he need to fight (i.e. Earthbend). Under his pancho, he a
cloth much like Romans used to wear held with a belt.

Bending Moves:
At his old age, Bumi tends to stoop adding to his aged look but when he fights,
he straightens his posture to an upright position. He may be over 100 years
old but Bumi can still kick some major butt! He is a Master Earthbender and
can do all sorts of moves such as splitting an incoming rock into two [2],
levitating and throwing boulders [3], create slabs of stone for defense [5],
or use it to move [4]. He can also turn the ground into quicksand [6] or if
rocks are headed his way, he can turn it to sand creating minimum damage to
himself. He can shift the ground and make earth jut out [7]. One trick that
is unlisted under the Earthbending abilities is a moving skill Bumi does.
Basically, he melts into the ground, tunnels through the earth, and reemerge
at another position [8].

The cabbage merchant is just a simple old man going along his business - selling
cabbages. When his merchandise is vandalized, he becomes very irate, but he
bounces back by moving on with a few grumbles along the way.

shirt going down to his thigh. The colors are shades of green, marking him
a citizen of the Earth Kingdom.

into a rage and challenged him to an Agni Kai, a traditional Firebender duel.
Zhap was too wily for the young Zuko then, but will he come to regret sparing
the Prince's life?

Little-Known Fact: Zhao's a ruthless opportunist
World of Avatar Bio:
Commander Zhao and Prince Zuko go way back before Zuko's exile. At that time,
Zhao was a mere Captain but within that two year span since Zuko's banishment,
he has risen to the rank of Commander and now commands hundreds of Fire Nation
warships. He is loyal to the Fire Lord but greatly dislikes his son, Prince
Zuko, with a passion. He seems to like rankling the young Prince but he respects
Prince Zuko's uncle, though, most likely because General Iroh has proven himself
as a competant warrior and great hero of the Fire Nation while Prince Zuko
has no notable accomplishments except his birthright.
Zhao's main duty is to defend the Fire Nation waters with a barricade of Fire Nation warships. He takes his job seriously and would hurt anyone who comes across his way even Prince Zuko, himself. He is rather crafty and is not easily fooled by tricks such as Prince Zuko sailing away from his ship under the cover of smoke. Zhao does not like to lose at anything and would retaliate even if the enemy's back is turned as had happened in his Agni Kai match with Prince Zuko.
He is a merciless person and easily condemns others even if they are not in the wrong. For example, in episode 8: Avatar Roku, he captures all five Fire Temple Sages and bursts out, "As far as I'm concerned - you are all traitors!" even though only one Fire Sage betrayed the Fire Lord. Basically, Zhao is not a person to get on his bad side.
Clothes:
Commander Zhao is usually seen in his armor. It is similar to the typical
Fire Nation armor with some slight differences such as golden medallions at
the side of his shoulder gaurds, stating his rank. The only time he is out
of uniform is at the Agni Kai match with Prince Zuko where he sports traditional
Agni Kai clothing comprised only of pants and two armbands.

Bending Moves:
Zhao is an apt Firebender and is considered a Master. He is an aggressive
fighter and attacks his opponents head-on until he breaks their defenses and
goes in for the "kill". He knows various ways of deflecting Firebending
attacks. One, he puts his palms together and splits a fire attack into two
[1] while the other, he brings his hands in front of his body and "spins"
it out of the way [2].

Upon the Crazy Foaming Guy's appearance in episode 4, The Warriors of Kyoshi,
after Aang does his marble trick - many Avatar fans noted this guy in blue
and took a great liking to his hilarious reaction. He screamed like girl,
waved his hands up and down several times, foamed at the mouth, and fainted
off of the screen. His outlandish fangirl-like action endeared him to many
fans because it was just plain funny to watch. Not much is known about him
except he is easily impressed by the Avatar.
As a resident of Kyoshi Island, it is doubtful that he will return in another episode much like the other minor character fan-favorite: the Cabbage Merchant. Even though that may be the case, his sole appearance stood out in many minds.

Fire Lord Ozai is the current leader of the Fire Nation. He is the father
of Prince Zuko and the brother of Iroh. He has taken on the mission of his
forefathers of conquering the whole world and he plans on finishing the war
within a years time with the aid of a comet. The comet, called Souzen's Comet
after the Fire Lord who first harnessed its power and started the war, is
expected to pass by the Avatar world in summer and will be used to deal the
last blow to the Earth Kingdom by giving Firebenders extra strength.
According to Iroh, Ozai is not the "understanding type" implying that he is a bit short-sighted when it comes to situations. It could also be that Ozai is unforgiving as he had banished his own son from the Fire Nation due to some unhonorable act he has done with the impetus that he not return unless he captures and brings back the Avatar. Prince Zuko's search for the Avatar has went on for two years to no avail until Aangs revival in the South Pole.
During one of Prince Zuko's talks with his Uncle, Iroh says that Zuko's father, his fathers-father, and his great-grandfather has all searched for the Avatar and failed. It seems that Zuko's banishment was meant to be a permanent one considering the failure of his predecessors to find and capture the Avatar.
The Fire Lord has a great interest in the capture of the Avatar and would give a great deal to get his hands on Aang. Aang is the only one in the world who stands in his way of world domination. In short, Ozai sees Aang as a threat.
As far a looks go, Ozai has the same top knot that Avatar Roku has but he has no beard. From his image, he seems to be younger than his brother Iroh and in much better shape. Bodily, Ozai looks to have the same bulk as Commander Zhao which probably means he's around 30-40 years old but we can only speculate on that for now...

The only available image of Fire Lord Ozai is a tantalizing silhoutte as seen
above. He seems to be wearing Agni Kai clothes as he is shirtless, wearing
only pants, and his arms look to have the armbands typical of an Agni Kai
uniform.

Souzen, a Daimyo who fought against Hosokawa Katsumoto during the Onin
War in Kyoto.

World of Avatar Bio:
Fire Lord Souzen is the one who started the war against the whole world. When
the Avatar disappeared, he took the chance to pursue his goal and struck a
blow on the other nations with the help of a passing comet. The comet greatly
increased the strength of the Firebenders which gave them an edge against
the other Nations. That comet is now named after him and is refered to as
"Souzen's Comet".
He wanted no interference from his goal and ordered the extermination of all Airbender's - the next nation the Avatar will be born into. He has succeeded in wiping out the Airbenders and one hundred years later, it is believed that there is no longer anymore Airbenders left alive with the sole exception of Aang, the Avatar. Souzen was no fool, though, and he himself went out and searched for the Avatar without success. The search of the Avatar has since been passed down to the next-in-line and is now on the shoulders of his great-grandson Prince Zuko.

Katara and Sokka, and hopes that one day, they will know a world without war.

Gran Gran is the village elder but she lets her grandson, Sokka, make the
major decisions concerning the village. She is not one to smile a lot due
to the war and the raiding of their village by the Fire Nation, leaving her
emotionally scarred and very hateful of the Fire Nation. She does not trust
outsiders easily, is often serious, fearful of the Fire Nation - even with
ruins left by them, and very protective of her village.
Gran Gran prefers caution above else and would advise against something even if it is for another's benefit such as Katara traveling with Aang to the North Pole and meeting a Master Waterbender. Once you win her over, Gran Gran is very supportive of any endeavor - even letting her own last remaining family, Sokka and Katara, go help Aang in his quest to master all four elements.

Monk Gyatso was Aang's favorite teacher at the Southern Air Temple, where
the Avatar-to-be first began his training in teh bending arts. Despite being
a powerful Airbender, Monk Gyatso was a gentle and popular instructor at the
temple, and he remains one of Aang's most fond memories of the world he knew
before.

Shai Yu is one of five Fire Temple Sages. His family has served the Avatar
for generations with his grandfather serving Avatar Roku years ago. Although
Fire Lord Ozai demanded their loyalty, Shai Yu's allegiance has secretly been
with the Avatar. When Aang appeared, he proved himself by helping Aang to
Avatar Roku's sanctuary on the top floor of the Fire Temple. When the Fire
Temple was destroyed, Shair Yu was captured by Commander Zhao along with the
other Fire Sages. He had no regrets in helping the Avatar as he was led away
into his prison cell.
Clothes:
Shai Yu wears a long red robe and a hat typical of a Fire Sage.
Bending Moves:
Shai Yu is most likely a Master Firebender. He can bend a stream of fire.
One of his tricks was to send fire through a hole that opened a secret passageway

Suki lives on the tiny island of Kyoshi, a place so remote that it has so
far escaped Fire Nation plunder. Until Aang and the gang drop in and attract
the attention of Prince Zuko, that is. But the female Warriors of Kyoshi,
including Suki, have quite a surprise in store for the Fire Nation invaders.
(And Sokka, too, wink wink!)

World of Avatar Bio:
Suki is the leader of the Kyoshi Island Warriors. She leads them into battles,
speaks on behalf of all of them, and directs her fellow warriors during practice
sessions. She has a sense of humor but won't take insults lightly. Suki is
a fair person and will forgive someone if they admit their mistake, otherwise,
she will act coolly towards you but is never rude about it. Suki wears the
same uniform and face paint as her fellow warriors but as leader, she wears
a different headband which imitates the founder, Avatar Kyoshi's headdress
but in a lesser scale.
Clothes:
The Kyoshi Warrior clothes are all the same except for Suki's headdress. Their
clothes are of a green dye with armor surrounding their shoulders and wrists.
The silk threads in their garmet symbolizes "honor" and the golden
insignia on their wrist symbolizes "bravery". The lower half of
their outfit looks to be a dress but I believe it is much like the kendo pants
which are pleated and bellow out but are seperate at the middle.
Fighting Moves:
The Kyoshi Warriors fighting style does not rely on strength to defeat their
opponents. Rather, it was made to cater to the abilities of a female and uses
the opponents energy against them. Most likely, the Island's fighting style
was developed by the founder of the Kyoshi Island Warriors - the former Avatar
Kyoshi, a female born into the Earth cycle 400 centuries ago. The Kyoshi Warriors
favor the fan as their weapon, holding two of them at the same time. It is
used as an extension of their hand and are usually fully fanned out. In some
occasions, they will throw their fan at an enemy to knock them down.
Weapons:
Suki's weapon of choice are two fans. She uses them folded and in unfolded
states.

Tyro is a natural leader. Everyone looks up to him to solve problems and get
his input. Ever since his and the other Earthbender's capture, Tyro has lost
his fighting spirit and has since given up fighting back. His only goal since
his imprisonment was survival from day-to-day and to wait out the war. According
to Haru, Tyro used to be hopeful of ridding his mining village of the Fire
Nation and had fought back. His hope died when he was captured but rekindled
when Katara appeared.
Since busting out of the Fire Nation prison, Tyro is once again leading his fellow Earthbender's to take back their village. This time, he will have his son, Haru, by his side to aide in the cause plus extra hope since the Avatar has returned back to the world.
Clothes:
Being a prisoner of the Fire Nation for years, Tyro is clothed in brown rag
garments with his original Earth Kingdom clothes hidden underneath.
Fighting Moves:
Tyro is a competant Earthbender with various combination attacks that he combines
with his son, Haru, and other Earthbenders.
