Death, Departing, and Favors
- First of all accept the fact that at sometime, somewhere, and somehow....you character is going to die. I hate to be blunt, but that's the easiest way to put it. It may be a box that blows you up, a player that you offend, a bleeder, or perhaps even a critter. It's important that you are ready for this and understand what takes place.
- Let's talk about what happens first. Your body will probably be drug to the clerics guild. Clerics "perserve your memories." This means the expierience you have learned while hunting or disarming will not be lost. If you depart without a cleric protecting your memories "expierience" you lose it. It's that simple. So, dont depart without a cleric. Now there will be times as a ranger you will be hunting alone. You may be in the deep wild far away from civilization. In these cases you may not have any choice but to depart. Try to let your friends know where you are hunting in case you go down.
- Once a cleric tells you your memories are protected you may "depart." What this means is that your body is ressurected in the temple and then you may go back to the clerics guild to reclaim your items from your grave. This brings me to the next issue. Try to get a paladin to "ward your body. Warding is a paladin spell that creates what is called a glyph that holds your items. You simple touch the glyph and suddenly your items all appear back on your body. For example, touch aroamers glyph. Now, if there is no paladin to ward you then when you get back you will have to dog out your own grave and get your items one by one. Example, dig aroamers grave. Items such as armor or weapons may be damaged from being buried in the ground. Appraise these items to what state of repair they are in then have them repaired at the appropiate place.
- A favor it what keeps your character from passing on for eternity with no chance of ressurection. In DragonRealms this called walking the stary road. Favors are very easy to get and there is no excuse for not having at least one. I myself make it a priority to get at least one favor before I do anything everytime I log into the game. In crossing, typedir favor 9 and this will lead you to the old ruins. At the ruins you simply kneel and pray three times. Once you get the messaging to stand and pronounce your gods name you say the god you worships name then stand. You will be taken to a place where you have to solve a riddle in order to obtain your favor orb. I won't reveal any riddles so you'll have to figure that part out for yourself. Please whatever you do don't drop your orb. If you do it will break and take you out of the riddle area. Once you obtain your orb you need to fill it. The orbs are require expierience you've learned to fill. This is a sacrifice to your GOD in order to gain thier favor. If you juggle or skin then once you've mindlocked that skill just rub your orb. It will let you know when it's ready. When the orb is ready return it to the crossing temple and place it on the alter then you have 1 favor. This isn't as hard as it sounds and once you get used to it, it's really a simple process. Favors are different is all provinces so you'll have to do some exploring to figure it out, but hey you are a ranger exploring is your thing.
