    Roleplaying

Theme is the overall guide of what we Role-play about on our game. It is based primarily on the events of JRR Tolkien's The Silmarillion and other books written by him of the events of the First Age of Middle Earth.

That's why it is very important for players to read the book! The better understanding you have of it, the better you will be able to play a character within its world.

We try and portray a world close to the spirit of the books, and even incorporate many events woven among our own roleplay to make our game even more exciting. The basic tenet of having 'theme' is so our game is recognizable to all as a Tolkien based game. With that in mind, we can create characters of our own, or more fully portray those who appear in JRR Tolkien's books.

Many players, especially those new to on-line games like our MUSH (Multi-User Shared-Hallucination), prefer to observe some role-play by other players. This allows them to gain an idea of how the game is played, and how players portray characters in what is, after all, a fantasy world. You are encouraged to ask other players for this chance.

    Posing

Posing is what you do when you are roleplaying and it is basically a description. When a roleplaying scene begins, the first player to pose should set the scene. For example, they will describe what the weather is like, the time of day and something of the surroundings. After this is done, other players will begin to pose how their characters enter or are already in the scene and then begin interacting with one another.

The history you have created for your character will help guide his/her actions. The better you know your character's personality, the better you will be able to portray him/her to other players during rp.

    RP Etiquette

    1. Never pose to a player that has not yet posed (entered the scene). Until a player poses into a scene you don't know they are there or what they are doing.

    2. Never pose your character's thoughts. In real life you cannot tell what someone is thinking and the same holds true in roleplaying.

    3. When players come into a roleplaying scene that is already in progress, it is always helpful to give them a short pose or page of the scene.

    4. Don't forget your surroundings. To make the scene more real it's a good idea to throw in some details about what might be happening around you. ie. raining, crowded street/tavern.

    5. Never roleplay more than one character at a time. It's poor etiquette to be roleplaying multiple characters whether on the same MUSH with an alt or on another MUSH (even if you think yourself capable). You should respect other players by giving them your full attention and set a good example for newbies.

Starting

To start a new character a few things need to be done. Each player will write a description of what your character looks like, they will write a history or background of their character and will also decide upon what their character to be. ie. Healer, Scout, etc.
