The silver fox trotted stealthily and quickly through the forest. It was midnight, and the moon shone its cresent shape. The silver fox looked around the forest, as if searching for something. The silver fox ran a little faster, and came accross a river that reflected the dark night sky and the cresent moon. The fox stopped and took a drink from the river. Then she sat down and looked around as if waiting for something. Suddenly a dragon soars out of the water and lands on the bank next to the fox.

The dragon growls at the fox, as if forcing it to leave the river. The fox does not budge, and stares at the dragon through crystal blue eyes.

Suddenly the fox bursts into silver flame, the flames grow fainter after a few moments and the fox has vanished, or to put it into better words, the fox has turned into a an elf.

The elf strokes the dragon's muzzle slowly. "Shhh.... Dancing Waters, calm yourself, it is only I, the silver fox of the midnight forest. Do you not know me?" The dragon calms at the elven form of the fox. "I must leave the midnight forest for a while, I will leave you as its gaurdian. For that is what I have been training you for, is it not?" Dancing waters makes a low grunt of satisfactory. "There you go now girl, I must leave now." The elf turns back into the silver fox and runs into the Midnight forest. Dancing Waters stares after the fox until it is no longer visible. Then she dives back into the river.

Three months later.....

You walk through the Forest of Midnight, smiling at the beauty around you. Yet you have seen no creatures sinse last night, when you saw a squirel run up a tree. You sigh, "I've been walking for days, and still no sign of the entrance to the forest." At that moment you come accross a river. On the other side of the river, you can see a black garden like gate. You begin to walk towards a series of large rocks leading accross the river, when suddenly a dragon soars out of the water and lands in front of you growling. You stare at the dragon, afraid, then you say "Ummm.... sorry I didn't mean to disturb you. I would like to cross the river to go into the gate please." The dragon growls, "You shall not pass until you have givin me the cause of your search." You look at the dragon, astonished at its ferocity, though you quickly realize that most dragons are very aggressive when it comes to territory. "Well, what is it human? Only creatures may pass beyond this point! Unless, of course, the offender has a good reason. Speak!" The dragon growls louder. You think quickly, "To see the creatures of the Midnight Forest! I will not take them or harm them! I just wish to see them!" The dragon growls, "That is no passage through the gate! Return when you have a better reason!" You reply, "But I won't hurt-" you are cut off by the dragon. "I do not trust humans! For I have been left twice by their kind! Once by someone who's name I shall not say, and once not three monthes ago by the silver fox of the midnight forest!" You turn around, and say "Fine then, but not all humans are that untrustworthy." You walk back into the forest, angry at the dragon and dissapointed at the lost oppurtunity to enter the midnight forest.

That night at midnight...

A Silver Fox ran through the forest, looking around, searching for a river. The Silver Fox reached the bank of a river and stopped. The fox looked around, Suddenly a dragon flew out of the water and growled at the Silver Fox. The Silver Fox looked the dragon over with crystal blue eyes and asumed its elven form. The Silver Fox stroked the dragon's muzzle and said in a soothing voice, "Hello Dancing Waters, I am sorry that I was gone for so long, the journey took a little longer than I had expected. I hope you did not think wrong, and think you were abandoned by myself, for I would never do that to you." The Silver Fox hugged the Dragon firmly and said, "But now I have returned, I hope you will forgive me for keeping you waiting." The dragon produces a sound of happiness, tears of joy cover them both.

Four months later....

You return to the forest. Hoping that the temperment of Dancing Waters has changed for the better. You reach the river to find Dancing Waters and a silver fox playing togeter. You stare opened mouthed at the sight. "Four months ago the Dragon harldy smiled, but now she was never letting a smile leave her face. You walk foreward a few steps, the dragon and the silver fox stop their game and look at you immediatly. You speak in a nervous voice, not sure if the dragon's temperment towards humans has improved, "Ummm.... Sorry to disturb you, but may I enter the midnight forest now?" The fox looks at the dragon as if asking a question to her mind. You gasp as the fox bursts into silver flame. An elf stands with a dragon in front of you now. The elf smiles, "Tell me, have you come here before.... while I was away?" You nod, still amazed at the fox and the flames. She smiles again, and looks at Dancing Waters, "Well what was the reason givin, and why does the human return asking to enter?" The dragon looks at the elf, "The reason givin was to see the creatures, not take them, or harm them. I turned the human down." The elf looks at the dragon and shakes her head. "I apologize human for Dancing Water's rudness the previous time. I will permit you to enter." You walk accross the rocks to the other side of the river and go through the gate.

The Elf looks at the dragon and says, I must lead the human through the forest, and see that the human does not come to harm, or cause it. I will return with the human. Dancing Waters nods, and the elf turns back into a Silver Fox. She then runs through the gate to the midnight forest.
