Granted, some of them might seem corny and most of them need lots of work...

but, as always...they're from the heart (and some from my weird sense of humor).

The Country Side

I'm Just a City/Country Girl

I met you in the city

With skyscrapers all around

But if you want to know me

We've got to find some country ground

There in the country I can be myself

And I'll find out who you are

And maybe there, together, somehow

We can reach up and touch the stars.

Well, I'm just a city/country girl

Needing lots of love

I don't care much for city lights

I like to see those stars above

So if you want to be with me

If you want to win my heart,

We'll have to leave these city lights

And all this modern art.

You say that you're a country boy

Who knows the forest well

And you can take me to heaven,

For I've already been through hell

I want to believe you when you say

That you're falling in love with me

But you're going to have to say it on country soil

If you want me to believe.

Well, I'm just a city/country girl

Needing lots of love

I don't care much for skyscrapers.

I like to see those stars above

So if you want to walk with me

If you want to hold my hand

We'll have to leave these city lights

And find some country land

We'll have to leave these city lights

And find some country land.

The Country Side

Dancin' to a Country Song

I was sitting alone

Down in Abeline

When my baby walked in

Looking wild and free

All eyes turned to him

But he turned to me

As they started playing our song

Dancing cheek to cheek

To a country song

Just holdin my baby

All night long

Everything's all right

Nothing can go wrong

Dancing to a country song.

He said those words

I wanted to hear

Then he said, "Baby, let's

Get away from here."

So we got in his truck

And he put it in gear

And we listened to those country songs.

Dancing cheek to cheek

To a country song

Just holdin my baby

All night long

Everything's all right

Nothing can go wrong

Dancing to a country song.

Well he pulled off the road

Cause the stars were too bright

Not to dance in the open

On this moonlit night

And the critters looked up

In surprise at the sight

Of us dancing to a country song.

Dancing cheek to cheek

To a country song

Just holdin my baby

All night long

Everything's all right

Nothing can go wrong

Dancing to a country song.

My Darlin's in Denver

The lights over Kansas are shinin' so bright

As I walk by myself on this warm summer night

And the moonlight surrounds me and tempts me to sin,

For my darlin's in Denver, again.

My darlin's in Denver and I'm in the mood,

So I'm tryin', oh I'm tryin' so hard to be good.

But I'll stay away from those bright neon lights

Til my darlin is home again, here by my side.

Riverwalk

Bright candles on tables glow softly tonight

As we walk by the cafes beneath the moon's light

And the bright stars above us are shining just right

As we walk along fallin' in love.

Every time we walk this Riverwalk

Every time we talk this river talk

Every time we listen to the river

I fall more in love with you.

I Thought You Said You Could Ride

Hey, cowgirl, I thought you said,

I thought you said you could ride.

But look what happened

When that horse a yours twisted

And pulled away to the inside.

You walked the walk and you talked the talk

And I'd a thought you had some class,

But you spurred him

When ya shoulda hung loose

And fell off on yer social class

So, pass me the biscuits and gravy too

Come on over to the barbeque

If yer too upper class, there's a chair to one side...

I thought you said you could ride.

Brass Ring

You can't catch the brass ring from an inside horse,

No matter how hard you try.

You can't even get near it from an inside horse,

And here's the reason why:

Inside horses are protected

By the roof of the carousel,

And, although they have their ups and downs,

They haven't really been through Hell.

(But they can sure put you there.)

They retain their pretty coat of paint,

Their gold fittings keep their shine,

They never get wrinkled, or scratched, or broke.

They don't show the effects of time.

So if you really want to catch that ring,

It's just a matter, of course,

Of forgetting about the inside nag

And going with an outside horse.

The Country Side

He's The Sweetheart of San Antone

Well his smile's like the Alamo,

You'll always remember

And you don't let him find you alone.

If you fall for him, he'll keep you waiting,

He's the sweetheart of San Antone.

He knows all the ladies,

He's kissed em all, too

He's saving the last dance

Just for little you

Be careful, there, darlin'

For he can't be true

He's the sweetheart of San Antone.

He don't know a promise

Aint made to be broke

And he thinks that forever

Is some kind of joke

When his wife finds him with you

He's gonna be broke,

He's the sweetheart of San Antone.

Trail Ride

Your cotton shirt seems to glow in the light of the moon

and I watch your body sway slightly

on the back of the horse

as we cross the fields this magical night

I still can't believe we are here

together

at last

Your hair looks like watered silk in the moonlight

as you dismount to join me in the soft prairie grass

your eyes catch and hold the starlight

and your smile matches my own

and we hold hands

and walk down to the lake,

and leave the horses

Nickering to themselves.

The Country Side

Dream of a City Girl

I am a countryy girl,

Born in the city,

Raised in the city,

But my heart, I think,

Was born in the mountains

And my soul in the summer wind.

My feet walked the pavement,

The highways and byways,

While my heart

walked on hillsides

And in lush verdant valleys

And I drank of the cool mountain streams.

I dreamed that one day

I would live in the mountains.

Now, I live in the high country,

Still in a house,

But not far from a meadow,

And I live my dreams...

I smell the wildflowers

When the breeze lifts them

And they nod their helloes

To my lingering feet.

I see graceful butterflies,

The little flowers of heaven,

Whisper to each other

The secrets they know.

I see a deer

And am silent enough

To have it see me

And not be afraid...

Just the deer and I, resting

By the mountain stream.

Now my heart laughs

And my soul rejoices,

For I have returned

To the place of my birth.

Los carreteras y vi'as,

Y ellas dicen "buenas d'ias"

A mis pies lentos...

Yo veo mariposas graciosas

Las florecillas de ciello

Murmullan unos a otras

Los secretos que ellas saben...

Yo veo un venado

Y yo estoy muy serena

Cuando me ve

Y no tiene miedo de mi...

< strong>Solemente el venado y yo, descansamos

Por el agua tranquila.

Y ahora, mi corazon ri'e

Y mi alma tiene alegri'a

Por yo he regressado

Al suelo en que naci'.
