Vida Sutton

Grumbolds Ash Group

We had a delightful evening with Doris Highfield at her home on 12th March, all enjoying the American Supper with a superb variety of food. She had some exciting news for us: On 27th March the Queen is giving a reception at Buckingham Palace for the launch of ?Cancer Research UK? to which Doris has been invited. She is a member of the Nailsworth Committee for this charity, putting in a lot of time and effort to raise funds, and we are all delighted for her and look forward to hearing all about it.

Our next meeting is at the home of Jane Bateman, Bumpers Isle, Bagpath, at 6.30 pm on Tuesday 16th April when Jane will demonstrate the art of floral arrangements including hanging baskets.

The Friends of Tetbury Hospital

The Friends are organising a fashion show and lunch in aid of hospital funds. The event will be held at Ilsom House, Tetbury, on Thursday 18th April, and tickets cost £15. Anyone interested in attending please contact me.

Sue Bradley-Jones

New Churchyard Mower

Last year the mowing team of Kay Brightley, Richard Waller, Lutz Wagner and Harry Tubbs had a difficult time due to the persistent unreliability of the existing machine, in spite of £300 being spent on repairs and maintenance. We have concluded that we need a new machine and the Hayterette has been recommended.

The PCC cannot pay for this at present and any donations towards it would be greatly appreciated. It is emphasised that the machine will only be used for churchyard mowing.

The PCC

Village Hall Yoga Classes

The next course commences on Wednesday 10th April at 7.00 pm and the 10 sessions costing £40 will run until 12th June. To find out more and to book a place ring Christine Hewett.

Tetbury Mini-Expo 2002 Youth Event

Advance notice is given of this event on Friday 17th May at the Sir William Romney?s Community Playing fields between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm, ending with a Disco in the Leisure Centre until 10.00 pm. Local groups are invited to take part in the Youth Leisure Show organised by Tetbury Leisure Centre, Tetbury Youth Centre, Tetbury Town Council and the Gloucestershire Rural Community Council. Further information from Virginia Griffin, Tel. 01666 504 670 on Tuesdays or Thursdays between 9 am and 3 pm.

Mobile Police Station

The mobile police station will visit Kingscote on Wednesday 3 and Sunday 14th April. It is not possible to give precise times, but the target is between 1.30 and 2.00 pm. It normally parks at the Lych gate.

The police are working hard to provide more visibility in rural areas, and we owe it to them to co-operate in this initiative. We can at least say hello, and perhaps also exchange useful information.
