Search Is On For 14 Year Old Michelle

Having a little fun at her own expense, actress Michelle Yeoh pokes fun at a picture of her take at 14 years of age at a press conference for her film The Touch

Hong Kong, China - Mythical Films and Yahoo! Hong Kong are organizing a campaign to duplicate a juvenile Michelle Yeoh for her new film The Touch. They are looking for a girl between age 12 and 18 to play the 14 year old young Yan Fei. At a media event to mark the announcement on August 8th, a giant picture of Michelle when she was 14 was displayed behind her as she addressed the crowd. Details of the applications and regulations can be found at the Official Site (in Chinese). If you are unable to read Chinese, the real attraction is viewing pictures of a young Miss Yeoh. Applications should be sent through internet between Aug. 8 and Sept. 2. Fifteen candidates will be chosen by September 15 and they will be required to tape a 2 minute video (the script will be provided by Mythical Films). In a move sure to please her fans, Miss Yeoh is allowing the public SOME say in who should play her character, Yan Fei, at 14. Video clips from the final candidates will be available on internet for public voting and the winner will be determined by:

Voting result from Yahoo! Hong Kong - 40%
Score given by Peter Pau, the director of The Touch - 30%
Score given by Miss Yeoh- 30%

Candidates must speak fluent English. The winner will be announced before October 15 and will be invited to a press conference in Beijing in October.
