The Fabric of the Nation exhibits the results of a project proposed by Channel News Asia to remember a moment in the history of Singapore. It was conceived as a national activity to get people from all walks of life involved in the making of the country's first national tapestry.
By the closing date for contributions 15,000 blocks were received. From these a team of 200 volunteers designed and sewed together the 60 panels on display.
