12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M.

Gaines has his men search the woods, knowing that Andre Drazen wants Jack dead. When one of his men is killed, Gaines realizes that Jack has been listening to all of his orders on the dead man's walkie-talkie. Kevin Carroll suggests that they desert the compound since the CTU will probably arrive soon. Gaines refuses because Drazen will merely have them killed. Jack traps Gaines, but instead of surrendering, Gaines pulls his gun. Jack shoots Gaines dead.

11:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M

Gaines orders his men to pack up his compound. He is suspect when he can't find Eli, but Rick assures him that Eli is busy burying the women. One of the armed guards finds Kevin Carroll, and Carroll informs them that Jack is on the premises. Gaines realizes that Rick has betrayed him and that Eli is dead. He has every entrance locked down, and joins his men in shooting at Jack. Jack, however, gets away.

10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M

Andre Drazen arrives at the compound and gives Gaines thirty minutes to find Jack. When Gaines does not succeed, Drazen orders a contingency plan that would kill both Palmer and Jack without Gaines' help. Since Kim and Teri are no longer necessary to influence Jack's cooperation, this new plan requires that they be eliminated.

9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M

Gaines receives a call from Andre Drazen, his employer. Drazen and his brother are unhappy that the Palmer assassination has not been completed as scheduled. Gaines tries to assure Drazen that he has a second plan, and that Palmer will be dead by the end of the day. Knowing that Gaines operates solely for money, Drazen threatens to drain the account that would pay him.

8:00 A.M. - 9:00 A.M

After the gun melee at the power plant, Gaines panics from not being able to reach both Jack and the assassin. Jamey reassures Gaines that she will find out what happened to Jack. Yet when Gaines calls Jamey again, her handheld device rings and rings. He does not know that she has attempted suicide.

7:00 A.M. - 8:00 A.M

Jamey assures Gaines that she will take care of Milo's knowledge of the phony key card. Gaines puts Jack and Jonathan in motion to kill Palmer. Yet when the plan is halted by a disruption at the breakfast, Gaines is ready to kill Teri and Kimberly for Jack's non-cooperation. After Jamey informs him that it was really the CTU who had Jack apprehended, Gaines decides to move ahead to Plan B. He assures an unknown boss that he will have Palmer killed later in the day, and he has Teri and Kim kept alive for future use with Jack.

6:00 A.M. - 7:00 A.M

Under threat of his family's safety, Jack is ordered by Gaines to switch the key cards at CTU and kill Nina when she realizes that the cards were changed. When Gaines sees proof that Nina is dead, he directs Jack to the Palmer breakfast. Gaines also warns Kevin (posing as York) that his cover is blown with Teri.

5:00 A.M. - 6:00 A.M.

Gaines has Rick bury Dan's body. Before Jack can speak to Janet, Gaines contacts him on his cell phone. Gaines lets him know that he is being watched, and instructs him to take a waiting car to CTU. Gaines has Jack put on a microtransmitter, and has him throw out the cell phone so he can not be traced.

4:00 A.M. - 5:00 A.M.

Kimberly acts up in the back seat of his car while Gaines tries to do business over the phone, and he is forced to put her in the trunk to contain her. When he learns that Dan lied about Janet's death, Gaines kills him.

3:00 A.M. - 4:00 A.M.

He takes Kimberly from Dan and Rick, and orders her to behave or else she will be killed.
