Cabalist Spells

At this point in the games development, not much information has been released regarding specific spell information. So currently, this is a collection of information regarding Cabalist abilities taken from developer chats, message boards, and the official DAoC web site.

Spirit Magic

The Cabalists magic is based upon Spirit Magic.

The general description of the Cabalist lists his primary powers as modification of enemy powers. This is accompished through spells based on poison and disease.

Modification of powers include the ability to effect the mental and morale states of the enemy. It also effects the abilities of his weapons.

Assertions

Ok, this may not be nice to hear... But when I think about the Cabalist, I think of the Necromancer from EQ.

But hang on, that may be a good thing, the EQ Necromancer is perhaps the most powerful class in EQ (with only the Druid coming in equal or superior).

Think about it for a second:

EQ Necromancer
DAoC Cabalist
DoT (Damage over Time) Spells and Skeleton Pet as main offence
DoT Spells and Golem as main offence (perhaps)
Spells based on poison and disease to cause various afflictions
Powers based on poison and disease to cause various afflictions
Dark Magic for mainly Evil Application
Spirit Magic applied in the support of good goals

Currently, the main difference that is currently evident between the Cabalist and Necromancer is the pet involved.

The EQ Necromancer is forced to contiuously summon new pets as they move between differing areas of the game.

The Cabalist uses a created Golem. The nature of the Golem is currently unknown (unless your in beta). But if the Cabalist has a created Golem from creation until it is destroyed, it could imply that Cabalists are also inherant craftsmen.

I'd really like to see a Cabalist having to collect materials to assemble and then animate a created Golem. The created Golem would depend on the materials collected (ie, bunch of clay for a clay golem, a forge and liquid metal for an iron golem, ect.)

Just as a quick side note, whenever I get into DAoC I plan to play a Cabalist as my first character.

Assertions presented here are speculation of the website creator and may or may not be real elements of the game.
