Blaser R-93 Tactical
I am very competitive by nature.  That is why I now own the Blaser R-93 LRS/Tactical.

I do not mind being out shot if the person is a better shooter.  However, I disike being 'beat' because of the equipment.  That happened and I voyed that it will not happen again.

After about 3 months of research and a $200 call to europe, I narrowed to choices down to the Sako TRG-21, Accuracy International 7.62, and the Blaser R-93.  All are great rifles, but the quality, design, and craftsmanship of the Blaser made it an easy choice.

I ended up finding a used one on Bowers board for only $2900 with travel vault, scope mount, some ammo, and a Leupold Mk3 scope.  As far as the glass - I actually HATED it!  The reticle was tilted & clarity was aweful!  I decided to put the best scope on it I could afford - the
Schmidt & Bender 30mm 3-12 x 50 P2 mildot!

I thought all that research had been wasted.  My first group was misleading, I thought only one round had hit the paper.  After walking down and verifying the impacts - we found the second and third shots basically in the same hole!  The only problem was that the BDC on the turret (when zeroed to 100 yards) would only go out to 700.  I contacted Schmidt & Bender - they told me to 'shim' the rear of the scope.  I was amazed that only 1 shim made the world of difference.  The first click was just a hair under at 100 yards, the second click was just over 100 yards.  The same thing at 200.  Once my friend and I figured out the scope was calibrated in meters (not yards) - we were right on target!

I am very pleased with the accuracy, but impressed with the quality of craftsmanship.  The straight pull type bolt is so smooth!  It feels like it is gliding on bearings!  The detachable 10 round mag actually lowers itself while you close the bolt - makes closing the bolt very easy.  Plus it does not touch the next round waiting.  The only problem with this SUPERIOR set up is experienced shooters like the action so well, they end up shooting too fast!

I had a qualified sniper say that he was concerned with the noise the bolt made when working the action unloaded.  I can some my response in one word - "whatever"!  When you are working the action with a round in the mag - it is very quiet.  Another point - if a 'sniper' touches off a round, they cycle another right away.  So would they not hear the first shot? (excluding your first target)  :o)

Another important note - you do NOT have to screw around trying to find a pet load.  Just feed it Federal 168 BTHP or any other QUALITY FACTORY loads and go.  Isn't that the way it should be.  I love the guys with Remington 700's who feel they have the most accurate rifle.  Their statements usually start with new barrel, new HS precision (or Mcmillian) stocks, and my pet load ...yadda yadda yadda.  I hope they pack thier reloading stuff when they bug out.

On our last outing we were placing 2 liter bottle CAPS at 250 meters - one shot each!

We call it the voo-doo magic gun.  I would reccomend it for anyone who is as anal as I am about accuracy!  Unfortunately anything for the Blaser is expensive.  The only thing that I have found for this rifle under $200 is the mirage band!
