Karakurum Alpine Style

 

This trek begins at Borit Lake. As we ascend up a beaten trail, crossing the Passu Glacier we reach the high point of Patundas at 4200m, the summer home of Gulkin Shepherds, and thousands of sheep and goats.

From this plateau we have the magnificent views of Shispare 7611m, Passu Peak 7284m, the entire Shimshal mountain range, and the Battura Massif.

Camping places are selected to make sure a spectacular view. Look out for a breathtaking moonlit night,    or a memorable sunshine, from behind the Distaghil Sar 7895m in Shimshal.

I T I N E R A R Y

I T I N E R A R YALTITUDE: Min = 600m Max = 4200m

Day 1

Arrival at Islamabad.

Day 2

Drive on KKH to Besham (7-8 hrs)

Day 3

Continue to Hunza (Karimabad) (10-11 hrs)

Day 4

Drive to Gulmith (2 hrs), day free for acclimitisation (2500m).

Day 5

Drive to Borit Lake, and hike to Passutghar, Traverse Passu Glacier to Luzdhar at 3400, (5-6m).

Day 6

Ascend to Patundas Pasture at 4200m, After lunch, and local explores descend to Luzhdar camp.

Day 7

Return to Borit Lake.

Day 8

Day excursion to Khunjerab Pass (4733m), PM return to Hunza (10-11 hrs).

Day 9

Day free at Hunza.

Day 10

Retrun to Gilgit, Pm sightseeing.

Day 11

Drive on KKH to Besham (7-8 hrs)

Day 12

Continue through Shangla Pass to Swat Valley (4-5 hrs)

Day 13

Drive via Malakand Pass to Islamabad.

Day 14

Return flight to home land.
