Introduction
Renegade Tech is an excellent full alternate damage/combat system for Battletech by Francis Greenway. The system, which is based on the game Centurion, converts Battletech's "point based" system into a "template based" system. This allows the system to much better model the differences in the way weapons damage a unit. For example with this system lasers largely become a peircing weapon able to drill through a unit's armor while autocannon's become "hole punchers" capable of eating away large chunks of armor in each blast.

Due to the very nature of Renegade Tech being a full alternate system for damage, armor, and critical hits the system is complex to learn (at first) and a good working knowledge of Battletech definately helps learning the system. Francis maintains a very helpful and easy to navigate website dedicated entirely to Renegade Tech, also he has given me permission to archive his .pdf files (Adobe Acrobat) which also cover the rules though I encourage anyone whom is intrigued by the system to check out his website.
