| The man, the myth, the legend is what brought movie goers to the theater seats this weekend as Catch Me If You Can opened big this weekend. The man, Leonardo Dicaprio, is the lead. An actor who rarely scores a hit, but draws much attention to his movies he stars in. In fact Leo has not had a hit since Titanic in 1997. His recent movies The Beach, Man in the Iron Mask and lackluster Gangs of New York have not proven much for Dicaprio. Yet he still has had roles with top notch directors such as James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg. Maybe image is everything. Even Spielberg has been struggling to please lately. With two critical failures, A. I. and Minority Report, he needs a hit as well. And the legend actor Tom Hanks could really use a big hit to |

| keep him back in good standing. Still these three men do not need a hit to get the larger than life roles in Hollywood, they are still that good. The box office went as this. The Two Towers was number one once again with another whopping $48.8 million, totaling an even $200 million. This is actually $45 million more than the first movie made a year ago. Second was this week's opener Catch Me If You Can with $30 million, now totaling $48.6 million since its December 25 opening. Third was Two Weeks Notice with another good weekend with $15.5 million finishing out the week with $43 million. Fourth was J. Lo holding on with $12.5 million for her Maid in Manhattan which brings its total to $56.9. And rounding out the top five was Gangs of New York with a weak $10.9 million for a total of $29.8 million. Next week you say? Next week its all About Schmidt, when Jack Nicholson returns in a dark comedy about the life of Schmidt. You want to know Schmidt go see the movie. And you know Jack is the only opener next week, because nothing else is coming to the theaters this week. |
