| Three movies finished with at least $15 milion this weekend and out of them 'Little' was the only opener. Road to Perdition and Men in Black 2 also made at least $15 milion. Stuart just beat 'Perdition' by a mere $300,000 with 'Men' following with another 3 thousand behind. The 'Stuart' sequel managed to rake in about the same numbers as its predecessor, which opened with $15 million back in 1999. This weekend was just a big disappointment all around, with lower numbers than this |

| this weekend last year. This time last year Jurassic Park III was chomping down on its $50 million opening along with America's Sweethearts taking in $30 million of its own. All in all most people stayed out of the theaters this weekend. There was no real winner this week, as the movies making the top five just about even distributed ticket sales. Stuart Little 2 opened with $15.6 million this weekend for number one. Having to settle for second once again this week was Tom Hanks' Road to Perdition with a good second week with another $15.3 million, as it opens in more theaters, for a total of $47.5 million. Third was Men in Black 2, holding steady for a third week with $15 million. This take is short of the original Men in Black's $19 million third week that totaled $172 million for the black suits. In fourth, was K-19 The Widowmaker with a very disappointing $13.1 million for Harrison Ford. I guess audiences like him best as the greatest American hero. This opening is comparible to his $13 million opening for Random Hearts back in 1999, that movie went on to gross only $36 million. This is not comparible to his opening for What Lies Beneath, which opened to $29 million and finished with $155 million. With every hit Ford takes a year off from doing another movie as its seems. With every flop he often does another movie right away. So I guess we will be seeing Harrison again real soon. In fifth this week was Mr. Deeds with another $7.3 million for a total of $107.6 million. And in sad news this week the men who brougt you the hit of 1996 Independence Day have brought us another flop, to go along with 1998's Godzilla. Eight Legged Freaks, despite opening on Wednesday ahead of the pack, scored only $6.7 million for the weekend and ended the week with a very stinky $9.2 milion for seventh place. Here's hoping they don't screw up Independence Day 2. It's going to be a "randy" good time this coming weekend. "Oh yeah, baby" as Austin Powers in Goldmember opens pretty much alone, well if you count The Country Bears. So Mike Myers should have no problem having a huge opening for his last outing as Mr. Powers. Back in 1999, he managed to open with $54.9 million, which is $4.9 milion than the original grossed all together. |
