This is to announce a welcome addition to the 2006 IWL conference speaker list and a special request to guest speakers whose conference topics have a publishing industry slant.  Joining us will be David Cowsert, CEO of Ink & Paper Group, LLC, a new publishing endeavor based out of Portland, Oregon.  The company includes two existing imprints, Gray Sunshine and Sofa Ink, and two new imprints, Bowler Hat Comics and Chain Reaction Press.  They are actively seeking acquisitions for all imprints and plan to have a rep available to hear author pitches during the conference.  Internet web sites are still under development, but placeholder sites can viewed from http://www.sofaink.com

Mr. Cowsert states, "Our presentations have been very well received on topics like 'Publishing Demystified,' 'Publishing Options--Self-publishing, Subsidy Presses, Vanity Presses, Small Presses, and the Big Six,' and other areas like finding and working with agents, query letters, nonfiction book proposals, and other industry topics."  David and his management team appear to have a broad range of publishing experience and remaining industry topics from which to choose.

David Cowsert is actively looking for authors and will be listening to pitches free of charge. "We will consider anything authors want to pitch,"  he says.  "If it doesn't fit for us, it might fit well for presses we are friends with. We also do not want authors to short themselves by erroneously limiting themselves--we might miss some great work!"

The Caldwell chapter looks forward to seeing and meeting our fellow writers September 29th 30th, 2006 in Boise, Idaho at the Owyhee Plaza.
