| Linda M. Meyer is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Editor-in-Chief for Ink & Paper Group, LLC, a new publishing group based in Portland, Oregon. Official titles aside, she is at heart an editor, and her personal and editorial philosophies inform her business roles with Ink & Paper Group.
As Truman Capote once said, Writing has laws of perspective, of light and shade just as painting does, or music. If you are born knowing them, fine. If not, learn them. Then rearrange the rules to suit yourself. There's no single right way to write, and the same goes for editing and publishing the written word. An editors judgment and sense of language must be first-rate, but she also should know when breaking the rules makes for literary breakthroughs. As COO and Editor-in-Chief for Ink & Paper Group and its imprints Sofa Ink, Gray Sunshine, Bowler Hat Comics, and Chain Reaction Press, Linda will continue to learn the business of publishing while maintaining her sense of connection with writers. Linda is ten minutes away from a masters degree in writing and publishing. She has worked with authors and publishers at the national and international level, finding her niche in small presses in the Pacific Northwest. Linda has served as Acquisitions Editor and Head of External Promotions for Ooligan Press, Managing Editor for Gray Sunshine, and Editor-in-Chief for Sofa Ink and its literary journal Sofa Ink Quarterly. As a freelance editor, she gained experience with poetry, essays and memoir, childrens literature, literary translations, Web site content, training/business materials, gardening and horticulture, graphic novels, fiction, and nonfiction. Her work is thorough, careful, and creativebut not fussy. She hopes to carry those attributes throughout her career in editing and publishing with Ink & Paper Group, LLC Linda looks forward to meeting with the attendees of the Idaho Writers League. |
