| update for 2002 The Chunky Festival was held in Mandela Gardens, Barnsley for the last 2 years, with another in the town center this year. It is an outdoor stage with local bands showcasing the music with other performers, to try and raise the profile of music in Barnsley. Earlier this year the Millennium Volunteers approached us to help them organise a bigger festival, the eventual location being Barnsley College's Honeywell site, booked for Saturday 6th July 12noon-8pm. The main stage is to be run as the Chunky stage but the M-Fest will involve workshops, deejays, percussion, netwars (hopefully ... follow the link to find out more about this), and as much entertainment as can be managed. There will be extra gigs held at night that weekend to promote as many styles of original music as possible. More information will follow just give it chance to happen... |

| 28.10.02 : Quick update ... We've got part funding towards Chunky 4.1 - due Easter 2003 Outdoor live music @ Mandela Gardens, Barnsley, S.Yorkshire There are new members to the Music Promoter's Group and we are all providing the entertainment for the Upstairs Room [x-firkin, Barnsley]. Auditions will begin 2003, but most bands will be gigging, we'll be watching and this year we retain the right to not work with arse-holes... | 17.05.03 : Chunky 4.1 has the go ahead Sunday 15th June @ Mandela Gardens [12noon - 8pm] Headliners confirmed as 'Candyheads' and 'B Movie Heroes' ... other bands include - Catch-it-kebabs / Mustard / Twisteye / 1st to Fall / Colorpool / X-rippers / 2nd Trade / Anti-heroes / Superfreak / Fights / Sondance ... the highlight of local original talent. |
