Technical Advice Questions
How do I install aircraft? To install airplanes, all that has to be done usually is to extract the file to the default aircraft folder in FS2000. Most planes on this site make folders for themselves within your Aircraft folder, but some might not. So if you find a plane you thought was installed doesn't appear in the game, check the Aircraft folder. Back to TopWhere can I find a panel for my airplane?Unfortunately, I don't have any panels on this site at the moment but if you want a panel for your plane, I advise you to try Flightsim.com or avsim.com (see the links page) and search for a panel specific to the aircraft type. You should find one pretty quickly at those two sites, but if not check out some of the other sites on my links page. Back to TopWhy doesn't this aircraft appear in the 'select airplane' menu?Sometimes I've installed a plane correctly to find it doesn't show up on the aircraft menu in FS2000. This can be because of a number of reasons. For example, the plane might be faulty - whoever built it may not have done so properly. The plane may not be for use in FS2000, maybe it could be for FS2000 Professional as these planes don't always work in the Standard version. Back to TopWho are the IADG?The IADG are the International Aircraft Design Group, and I believe that they produce some of the best freeware planes on the internet. At the moment the number of different aircraft on their site isn't huge, but they are impressive. They also have a page where they show the projects they are working on. On this page they have the C-17 Globemaster, which is one of their planes that I am particularly looking forward to. Unfortunately I can't make their planes available for download on my site. This is because their planes are so detailed and have so many features each plane is about 5MB in size. But check out my links page and visit their site for yourself. Back to TopWhat is FSUIPC ?FSUIPC is a module for FS2000 which can generate weather conditions automatically. You can set the probability that a thunderstorm will occur, or you can set the number of cloud layers you want in the sky and you can set how thick you want these layers. If you are keen on realistic weather, it's well worth a download. Check out the Downloads Page, where you will find this utility. Back to TopWhen is my aircraft folder too full?Hmmm... Good question, but in my opinion your aircraft folder can never be too full. As long as you still have space on your hard drive, then there's space for more planes. However, the addition of a large fleet to FS2000 can slow down the game somewhat. Once when I went to the 'Select Aircraft' menu it took nearly 5 minutes to load all my airplanes up. To put a stop to this I found a good freeware item, 'Air Fleet Manager'. This utility can separate your planes into folders, then when you want to play you select a folder and tell the program to mark the folder as 'active'. Then when you start the game only these planes will appear in the 'Select Aircraft' menu. Back to TopWhat are the best PC spec's for FS2000?FS2000 is a very demanding program and requires the best hardware for the best performance. Not long after buying FS2000 I upgraded my basic system to a High-specification system and the difference was enormous. I recommend for FS2000:
Forget what it says on the actual game, they just say that to make it available to as many people as possible. These are the real specs that I recommend you invest in - it's worth it. Back to TopWhere Can I Purchase FS2000 and/or the manuals?I'm advising all those who ask to check out Amazon, where you can purchase the games and a few manuals. Beware of the prices. You could also use Yahoo to search for more online book or computer stores. Back to Top
