Here's what went on in March!

3-01-01
Gosh. March already. This year is going by faster than last year!! But I'm sick of being a sophy...being stuck in the middle. Freshmen are cool, seniors are cool, but juniors and especcially sophomores suck. =P Anyways, Today was an extremely interesting day. Jazz was this morning, and I couldn't believe that I actually beat Eicher to rehearsal! (Usually I'm about a minute late!!) So everything's all set up, and were sitting there, and it's nice, and we're sitting there...and sitting there....and sitting there...Finally at 8:10 Aaron decides to lead the jazz ensemble, so we could actually play something. Then I kicked John off the piano b/c I wanted to play the easy song! It was funny! So rehearsal was going well, but we were all wondering where our director was! So Katey and I venture into the office (in the middle of a song) and call his house. His wife picked up and told us that he was sick. We told her that we missed him dearly (...riight...J/K) and that we were just wondering where he was. After we came out, everyone agreed that we needed to actually get some work done, so Aaron chose "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", so the trumpets could play badly and not get yelled at. (just kidding!) Well this one guitar guy who never seems to wash his hair, I think his name is...I actually don't know who he is...he's the one that's not Ryan...anyways, I'm rambling, but he played the entire song with his little guitar amp thingie sounding like this nasty guitar, and Mrs. Rollo was like, ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!! I couldn't even hear the saxophones playing, and that was like, a first!!! (brad) So we had a blast in JE. But that's just the beginning of our fun for the morning. Vitello had to conduct us, because he wanted to do the march (which eicher keeps spelling marsch for some reason). Carelessly, someone spills coffee, so someone told Vitello, and, he didn't care. So all throughout rehearsal, Chris Manacchio kept telling V about it randomly every 5 minutes! After the 422733th time, V burst out laughing. It was the dumbest thing. Then Chris said, "V, why are you always smiling?" and V goes "I dunno....it's band." hehe. After, Mr. V was all happy because he liked the piccolo part I played in that song, so it made me a happy bandie =) But then the rest of the day sucked because I had this horrible voice lab (read about it here) And to make matters worse, I think I bombed another math test. But Mike got kicked out of survivor tonight, and my best piano students come on Thursday, so the day was kinda like a backwards Oreo...The good parts were on the outside instead of the inside.......Ok, my analogies aren't as good as Mr. Vehars, but...well, I'm working on it. And I'm tired.

I saw the musical tonight and it was SOOOOOOOOO good! Laura King was such a good queen! And Andy Lange is the perfect King! It was hilllllarious. Oh yes, and do not forget Tim Beef, Mark Beef and Sully Beef, they were all quite nice in their tights (and tight purple pants, Katie!! Or what about that old dude in the audience with the plaid pants and creme colored sweater!). Ashley and Mike were also amazing, and my little fresh-friends looked so adorable on stage...LOL. (Erin!) And long live the Royal Orchestra!!!! I loved their costumes!! Oh, and if you're reading this and wondering what musical it was, it was "Once Upon a Matress". (F-R-E-D: FRED!) Rebekah was also funny - "Yes!" LMAO. "Shyyyyyy!!!!!" Hehe. OHHH!!! And Dave K. and Joe W. came back for a visit! It made me happy to see them. And I spotted the unfortunatly balding Tim Dickinson at the musical. I miss the old seniors!

3-03-01
Today Katey invited me over to her house to sleep over! It was me, Katie and Katey! And a multitude of Guinea pigs! LOL. We did lots of fun things like blowing bubbles out the window, back cookies, and put loads of makeup on D! =( But something very owieful also happened to me! Katey was making me try on this dress of hers for no reason at all, and she made me go in the closet. So these little evil present things got in the way of the door closing, so I moved them out of the way with my hand, and Katey was simultainiously trying to slam the door, so when I moved the presents, my middle finger got jammed in the door!!!!!! I screamed it hurt so much! I was so worried that I'd never be able to play flute again! =( It still hurts now, but it feels a little better. And since Katey didn't have any ice to put on it, she came back upstairs with a frozen stick of butter!! LOL! We later made chocolate chip cookies with it! (BCE cookie!) I wonder if I'll be able to play my piccolo effectively on Monday....

3-06-01
Sixth period today, I walked into Vitello's office, like usual, to get the keys. Once I stepped inside, V immediatly exploded and seemed pretty pissed that I didn't knock before I came in. I said, "Geez, I'm just going in to get the keys!" and Eicher handed them to me silently. "You don't have to get all angry about it!". I then left, closing the door behind me, and when I turned around, V and Eicher were laughing at me! I was emotionally and musically hurt! I frowned at them through the window and they laughed more. After we filled the machine, V was teaching a lesson, so I couldn't get my revenge. But I knocked on the office door anyways, and Eicher was on the phone so I let myself in. "I knocked!" I retorted when I came out of the office. V said something along the lines of "Good" or something, and I retreated back to the sm. ensemble room where Tiff was having a bad day....or no, wait...she was having a good day...but then she was comfortable on the dirty floor? Or was it uncomfortable and dirty? Tiff was unexplainable and very intolerable!!

3-07-01
Today during gym, TIFFY DURFEE (LOL) whacked my pickleball paddle with her paddle to try to make me miss the ball that I had kept bouncing for 32 times consecutively. Little did she know that she crushed my finger in the process! After crying out in extreme pain for 3 seconds, I grumbled at Tiff for the rest of class. Hey, I don't have to take no bs from some freshman! I was very angry. Now I have TWO injured fingers! I can still play flute, which is the most important thing. Ahh, but poor D...what a bad day she's had. She somehow got toothpaste on her shoulder when brushing her teeth today (?!), she missed the bus, Tiff killed my finger, and I didn't get to sing in voice lab (yeah, I'm actually mad over that for once...I practiced the song really hard), And I....and a bunch of other things! Gr! Well, that's all.

3-08-01
Today was truly interesting. In Jazz rehearsal, Mr. E yelled in Brad's face for two minutes non stop! It scared me! Brad was apparently playing too loudly when he had long notes, so Mr. E was re-inacting his performance. It was so funny. I stayed after school today to try out for the solo for chorus, and Katey tried out for chorale! I was so proud of her! When I finished, I went to the office to call my mom, who had no idea I had stayed after school! Hehe. Then I noticed that Mr. E had Finale on his PC, so I harmlessly opened it, but V got a little angry at that. He let me and Barb go on AOL, though! In his marathon of being angry, V also told me to "clean up the web page" because a trumpet player who will remain nameless got offended at the trumpet jokes that weren't even aimed at them. So no I have made the dictionary trumpet player safe. I hope they are happy!

3-11-01
I was talking to Barb, and she said that she saw Steve H. (a past graduated bandie) at Home Depot (he works there) and he told Barb that he seen Mr. Vitello and him girlfriend buying paint. He also reported that Mr. Eicher has not yet returned his nintendo64 that he borrowed from him. Hm....V and paint...Eicher and N64...Hmmm.....

3-15-01
Today I got my class ring!!! It's so cool, I even showed it to "Mooky"! Mr. E and Stroth also looked at it! It's so musical. Ok, here's what it looks like. It's some metal that looks silver and it's my birthstone...August. On the left side, it's got my name and a treble clef and a little eighth note, and on the right side it says "Flute" and has a little music stand type thing and it says Band on it!! And the best part is, that behind the stone, there's two little eighth notes! And it's got my name inscribed on the inside! I love it, it's so kool!!! =)

3-16-01
ECMEA!!!! Oooohhh!!! It was SO fun! I had a BLAST! (LOL) Ok, so when we got there, I had NO idea where I was going. So we all followed Jen! But they wouldn't let us into the band room until they finished setting it up. That's when I met up with Anna, John and Chris <--(sort of)! We had our own little band camp reunion! =) But it made us sad that Chris was totally ignoring us, he didn't even say hi to me! Anyways, Me and Barb caught up on the latest happenings in Amherst and Orchard Park. I talked with Ali also a little bit later. Then we had to audition...! Ugh! The flute section is nice, for the most part...except for the girl who ended up first chair. When we all found our room, we all shared who we were and where we were from. When I told them I was from Clarence, they asked me if I was a sophomore. I was like, uh...yeah! Then the first chair girl asked me if I knew Tino. Well, um, yeah. We then discussed who our teachers were, and I found out that the 1st chair girl takes lessons from Mrs. Yu. I told her that I used to take lessons from her, and she was like, "Why did you stop?!?!?!?!?!?!" I was like, Geez! I just wanted to get another influence! Later I would find this girl very egotistical. When we had to "be" the metronome for the clarinets, she counted very loudly and precisely, even when the rest of us were dragging. She almost reminded me of a certain flute player that i "know". It made me angry that they counted "1 and 2 and.." b/c I'm so used to "1 nay 2 nay..". I counted nay's anyways. (haha that rhymed!) So I ended up 8th chair instead of 5th (I hardly practiced!) And me and the flutes dicussed hot tuba players (LOL Scott!) It took them FOREVER to get us re seated...we had to wait ::again!:: for them to get the seats right. More time for visitation with band campers! =) So we rehearsed a while (the band was SOOOO loud!) and then we got a 15 minute break. So Anna, John and I set out to find the chorus, because we wanted to see them rehearse. After getting lost among the orchestra's coats, we found our way to the front foyer, only to find that we were going the wrong way. By the time we got to the stairwell, we only had 4 minutes, and it wasn't worth it. So we went back, rehearsed, and on the second break, we tried to find the chorus again. This time, we had to go to the vending machine b/c we were all a little famished, and then we got in the elevator...along with people who had to go to another floor. By the time they got situated, we only had 4 minutes left! Sadly, we returned back to the band room, not having seen the chorus. But we WILL see them next time! We will! =) So, obviously, I had tons of fun and I enjoyed spending time with my band campish buds (all of which are returning this year!) Remember to wear your shirts tomorrow! =D

3-17-01
OH. MY. GOD! And I thought I had fun yesterday?!?! Today's fun-ness was yesterdays times 8723403! First, all of us forgot to wear our band camp shirts except for Barb and John! Oh well though. We practiced on stage a little, and learned that the euphoniums were "hot" on the stage LOL. Then we had a 20 minute break, so we actually got a chance to see the chorus rehearse! We seen the people get chosen for solos! John was happy b/c he got to see his gf and 3 OP people got chosen to audition for the solos! Mike F. also got a solo! I was like, yes! Then we had to go and rehearse some more, and then we had a lunch break. Me and Anna and another oboe player named Nicole went to a restaurant on campus and talked about how band was at our schools. Sweethome has jazz ensemble scheduled as a period in their day! I thought that was cool. Then the fun began. >;) Since Anna and I felt like outcasts because the Sweet Home people were chatting amongst themselves, we decided to walk around with John, Chris and their Orchard Park friends. They had started a petition about the stickers what we weren't going to get. So they found a piece of paper and a crayon and wrote "Give us stickers or weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee'll bite you". John figured that he'd get away with it b/c Mr. Conte, the chairperson, was also his band director. So I signed it, with the original green crayon. But we all thought that the crayon wouldn't last, and that we needed to make it more colorful. So all 7 of us decided to go into CVS and buy some crayons. We almost got the 96 pack of crayons, because we were going to give everyone a crayon instead of a sticker. But it cost to much for something that stupid. So we agreed on the 64 pack. After we all went to the counter and bought the crayons, we decided to see how many buildings we could walk through without going outside. We had time to kill, so we walked through 5 buildings using only the walkway things to get to other buildings. It was so fun, because we almost got lost, we almost left someone in the bathroom, and we got split up, but then we found each other! Upon getting back to the band room, John and I proceeded to ask people to sign the petition. Suprisingly, many people wanted to sign it! We let them choose what color crayon they wanted, and we let them number it however they wanted. To give them a few starting ideas, the OP people began numbering it with radicals and random words. It was pretty funny how we didn't let anyone sign in anything but crayon! I also let John hold my flute and attempt to play it, and he almost let this evil euphonium player play it! I was like, NOOOOOOOOO!!!! When we felt the petition was complete (almost the whole band and a few chorus people signed it), John and I went to the front of the room during our "hang out" time and quieted the band down. I announced that I was presenting the completed sticker petition to Mr. Conte, with John close at hand. Mr. Conte just looked at it and laughed...and told us that he would present it to the ECMEA board. That scared us for a minute until he reassured that he'd just count the signatures on it, because some people had written strange things on it. It was just unbelieveable how we managed to get so many people to sign it! We were amazing. And the concert went well also. The trumpets were SOOOOO good! Well, I've got to go tape the sovenir crayon that I took to my band folder! It's the broken one! =)

3-21-01
I would be updating this page on the band PC, but V wouldn't let me on. I "camped out" again in the band room, since today really was the jazz rehearsal! =) I spent most of my time in the back room, trying to do homework but instead pestering fresh-bandies. Brad went psycho with the hockey stick and smacked Goodman...he was in extreme pain. Then we locked Abraham into one of the lockers! But we didn't want to hurt the tuba mutes inside of it, so we let him out! The rest of the time spent was throwing chess pieces and trying to figure out if the hourglass timer had crack in it. But after breaking it, emptying it on a piece of paper and having Brad taste it, we concluded that it was not any type of drug. (I'm sure Karda was dissapointed) Once rehearsal started, Abraham got in trouble for wumphfing the piano! (See the Bandie Dictionary: "wumphf") Then me and John discovered more faults in the aging piano! That thing is falling apart! Oh, and some good news, our orders for the machine came in! We now have....4 kinds of M&M's, 4 kinds of Skittles, and 3 kinds of Starbursts! I don't particularly like the fact that the machine doesn't have much variety, but the people are buying things, and that's all that matters! I also crushed Katie's toe with a huge box of sour skittles that I heaved in her direction. She screamed sooo loudly! Eeep!

3-23-01
Woo Hoo! Tomorrow is the WE festival!!! I can't wait!! =D

3-24-01
::dun dun DUN!!!:: WE Festival!! =) I arrived at school at about 2:15 and proceeded to lounge in the band room until Frontier was all set on stage. So I listened to them play....and it was alright...except everyone tapped their foots very loudly! And they weren't all together either! =O The oboe player was very good though. Barb told me that she thinks she's in GBYO. Oh, and speaking of GBYO, I had the pleasure of veiwing Scott B., but, I didn't think he was as hot as what Barb described to me. ("He's not that hot!") I was getting pretty bored, so I decided to get up near the end of the rehearsal and go see if my OP buds were here yet. And it was just my luck that John was walking in as I decided to get up! So me and Barb showed him around the band room, chorus room and orchestra room; stopping to write "Damn Townies" on every white board! =) We also showed him the "bandie time capsule" and added a jungle green crayon and a fake (but convincing) ECMEA sticker that one of his friends made. Then we decided that we had better return John to his band and we went the the aud to go listen. They were pretty good, except there was this one oboe player that was...well, she must have had some reed troubles. ( The Frontier people were also being very mean to the OP band by clapping during their rehearsal! Halfway through, me and Barb went to go find barf bags (LOL j/k) and we put on marching band hats in the coat room! Then I got bored there so I went back and listened until 5pm. Mr. Eicher then wanted to talk to the bands and tell them that this was not a competition and that stuff. Then he said that we had to sit with 2 people from each band at one table. But our tables have 8 chairs......Anyways...I chatted amongst bandies in the line for the disgusting dinner (that chicken looked very nasty!) and afterwards, Mr. S. motivationally spoke to us. But accidentally, we fell asleep! He had good intentions...but I would have had more fun talking with my friends. After that, we had to change in the small ensemble room, which people kept coming into! We then warmed up until Frontier was about to go on. They played well, but I think they played too many songs! We all had to go back to the band room after their 4th song and get re-warmed up. We didn't play very well at all during Yiddish Dances! There were some pretty scary parts of that song! The audience didn't seem to notice though, and we got a standing o. I felt really bad that I was out of tune......but oh well. There's always the next concert!

3-27-01
TRALF! The last major band event of the amazing month of March. When we got there, we had all this stuff to unload, and we got to ride the elevator! =) And we had a grumble of a time setting up the piano! When we finally got situated and got the piano to work, we rehearsed a little bit. I was praying that we would play better than we did earlier this morning for the senior citizens! Mr. Jenkins was a very good trumpet player! But he sounded like he didn't know where to come in and what note to play! He'd come in on a dissonant note and resolve it! It sorta bothered me that he did that. Anyways, then the OP ensembles rehearsed a bit...and they were nice....but "The Checkmates" really tore us apart. They had good trumpet players....as well as "The Chunky Shawn Look-alike". During the Checkmates' rehearsal, we wore out random pictures like, "Meet Me Later!" and "Life in Hell" {I lost that one though =(}, and the ever famous alien dude with a tattoo! (Click here to see a pic of it!) After chatting and laughing uproarously with my bandie buds, we all went out to dinner. Unfortunatly, none of the waitresses wanted to take our orders! We finally forced John to go up to one of them and tell them to come to our table! During our wait, though, Katey made me drink this awful soda water, so I threw a packet of sugar that said "If you could be an animal, what would you be?" at her. Also, we observed this strange man with homosexual vibes! Then we seen his picture in the changing room! LOL! The concert was alright, but it was very long and somewhat boring. I didn't hear it, but I guess one of the people in the "amateur" Jazz Ensemble in OP screamed out "Are they done yet?" during one of our songs! Anyways, I had lots of fun...especcially backstage with "Ed with the cool leather coat!" He was awesome! =)

3-28-01
Ugh....today was so horrible. I always have such bad days after really good ones....it's like some strange bandish whiplash. Anyways, I had almost none of my homework done, and I was sooo tired. Also, if that wasn't bad enough, we had to play "Leaves are Falling" by Warren Benson. In case you don't know, it has this awful piccolo solo in it and it's sooo out of tune! It seems like that ever since a few days before the WE Festival, whenever I picked up my piccolo or even when I thought about playing it, it was ALREADY out of tune! All of a sudden, it's like I can never be in tune! And that was something I was good at too....well I mean used to be good at. At least on flute. I hate piccolo so much!

3-29-01
Another bad day. I've gotta stop having so much fun, because I'm being punished for it! Today Mr. E got fed up with me, so he sent me away into the blue room with V, the trumpets and the trombones to work on a part in "Leaves". It was kinda like an insult to me, being shooed away to go work out my part. I also embarrassed myself totally, and Vitello and some of the other people were making fun of me, I almost cried in front of them. The worst part of it all was that Vitello told me I sounded good. We should just give up and play another song...Leaves is going to suck royally, and nobody likes it. This year we just give up so easily....=P

3-30-01
Mr. E hates me. I know he does. Maybe he won't admit it, but I know he's pissed at me. It was a good thing that we didn't get to my part in Leaves, because I forgot my music at home! =( Mr. E would have executed me! The dance also pretty much sucked. I wore Katey's pants! And she wore my clothes! We've been doing that alot lately. UGGGGGGH my brother is playing his saxophone soooo loud! >=( Nothing more to say, the day sucked for the 3rd time in a row.
