Riding in hard after a long night Buck, hands off the pouch to Cody. As he steps down from his mount, he remembers the thick letter given to him in Blue Creek. Pulling it out he see that the name is James T. Hunter. He sees Teaspoon sitting down fanning himself with Kid's hat. "Teaspoon, I've got something for you," he shouts. Teaspoon gets up; Jimmy, Ike and Kid follow behind him. Buck hands him the letter. Pulling a pair of bent wire frame glasses out of his shirt pocket, Teaspoon begins to read the letter. With each line his face drops, then he looks up at the wondering foursome in from of him. "Damn!" "Is something wrong?" asked Kid. Teaspoon walks off, the boys are left standing confused. He goes into Emma's house, shortly afterwards him and Emma both come out. "Boys get washed up, and into your good dinner clothes we have a new guest," yelled Emma. Emma and Teaspoon head into town with Emma's buggy. The boys sit around the dinner table waiting for them. "I wonder what that letter was all about?" "I bet their sending us a new rider." "Perfect, another mouth to feed, as if Cody won't enough," joked Jimmy. "Shh...I hear them coming in." said Lou. The boys go out on to the porch. Sitting in the back of the buggy was a small, thin figure wearing a dusty jacket, and worn hat. The figure hopped off and walked towards the porch. "Boys I'd like you to meet Laura Elliott, she'll be staying with us from now on," said Emma. The girl removed her hat and allowed her long curly locks to fall down. Once she stepped into the light her beautiful face was revealed. Soft brown hair with a touch of golden highlights accented her tan skin. The light of the oil lamps made her sky blue eyes sparkle. When she opened her mouth to speak her pale pink lips seem to flow with the sweet sound of her angelic voice. "Nice to meet you all," she said. Buck found himself captured by her, he stood back and watched as Jimmy and the others surrounded her. Lou bit down on her bottom lip and put her hands in her pockets. She couldn't believe how stupid the guys were acting, so she joined Buck as he stood alone against the steps. "Another girl, huh I bet she can't even put on a saddle." Just then the thunder of Cody's horse filled the air. He came sliding in as he passed off the mount to another guy. He walked his horse to the porch were Lou and Buck still sat. "I know dinner can't be this bad" he said as he padded Buck on the shoulder, then he stopped and looked back at him. Unless Jimmy cooked. He turned the handle and went inside, few short seconds later he came back out and took Buck by the sleeve. "What are you doing out here, with an angel like that in there." During dinner Buck couldn't take his eyes off of her. He barely touched his meal. Everyone bombarded her with questions. "Tells us about yourself..." asked Emma. "Well there's not much to it. I'm 17, my father was from Texas my mother was from the Cherokee nation. I was raised my father." "Hey Buck she'd just like you," said Cody. Buck's eyes seem to lighten up some. There this girl was a half breed like him. "Buck, you're Cherokee?" she asked "Um, no I'm a half Breed Kiowa." replied Buck "Well I would love to talk to you some time about your tribe." After dinner Emma and Teaspoon took Laura to the big house. Buck seemed quiet, Ike and Cody joked behind his back. "So Buck what are you going to say to her?" asked Cody. "Well she wants to know about, my tribe I guess." "I don't see the big deal about her, she is just a girl," pouts Lou. "A very, very, very beautiful girl," remarked Jimmy. Kid smiles, Lou gives him an evil glance. The next day, the boys went about their daily chores. Laura made her way to Buck. "Later day would you like to go on a picnic?" Buck seemed a little confused, but he agreed. He knew if he told anyone they would make fun of him so he kept his mouth closed. The time came around for the picnic. He walked his horse out of the barn and quietly rode out. Once he got there a nervous Buck was met by a nervous Laura. The two of them sat down and talked over a small lunch.
