Num 13:17 (Moses sent ten men to explore the land of Canaan.) See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many. What kind of land do they live in? Is it good or bad? What kind of towns do they live in? Are they unwalled or fortified? 20 How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there trees on it or not? Prov 3:29 - Do not plot harm against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you.

Prov 3:31-32 - Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways, for the LORD detests a perverse man but takes the upright into his confidence.

Prov 3:33 - The LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous.

Prov 21:12 - The Righteous One takes note of the house of the wicked and brings the wicked to ruin.

 

Lending a Hand

Prov 20:11 Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right.

1 Chron 28:9 acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

Prov 21:2-3 All a man's ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

Matt 5:46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?

Eph 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

1 Tim 6:18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

Heb 13:16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Prov 21:13 If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered.

Prov 22:9 A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor

Prov 28:27 He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.

Isa 1:17 learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.

Amos 5:14 Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the LORD God Almighty will be with you,

Rom 2:7-9 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil:

1 Cor 10:24 Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.

Heb 11:24-26 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter. Ps 10:17-18 You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed,

Ps 9:10 Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Ps 9:12 (The Lord) does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Ps 69:32-33 The poor will see and be glad--you who seek God, may your hearts live! The LORD hears the needy

Prov 19:17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has do

1 Cor 10:31 31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God

1 Cor 13:3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

1 Cor 10:24 Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others

Acts 11:29 (the Spirit predicted that a severe famine) The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea.

Acts 20:35 by hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

1 Thess 5:14 warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

 

Civics in the Sunshine

Titus 3:1 & 2 1 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.

Mt 28:18 - And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

Ro 13:1-3 - Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.

I Timothy 2:1-4 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Proverbs 10:12 Hared stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.

Proverbs 11:3 The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them.

Proverbs 11:14 Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety
