What did I do with all that information?
Good Question. Well, unfortunately I don't have any farms near my house (apart from school). Nor do I have a vegetable or herb garden of any form. All that information on what all those lovely things contained was useful, but really for my project I needed to find more acessable suppliments. Armed with my trusty list full of Panto-whats-it-acids I headed to my grocery store! By spending far too much time reading the back labels on a heck of alot of things. I gradually worked out a "Faye Friendly" equivalent of that trusty list. This is what I fed my Organic ducklings.
Vitawheats and Ryvita Bran flakes Cat food Soy grits Vegemite Milk Powder Lucerne Greens (Shown: Spinach and Garlic)

That was just a little insight into what went into these Australian products. As you may well know, a duckling's diet changes. From when they are born till usually by the age of three weeks (all depending on circumstances) they are fed on Duck Starter. After that they are put onto Grower and then perhaps a normal diet, although sometimes they'll live quite happily off grower after those first three weeks. Like this, my substitue food had to be changed to encorperate these growth changes. This is what I fed my Organic ducklings, from day one till week six.
If you are thinking.. I know this girl's living in Australia. But I'm in America, Where on earth do I get a hold of Vita-what? Don't Worry, I took the liberty of scanning all those little back labels that tell you what's in everything. This way (if you are really that intrested) you can find your foreign substitues to my substitutes!

Vegemite, that weird and wonderful Australian creation! It tastes alot like Marmite (Which you get in England) However I'm led to believe Marmite is made from meat extracts whereas Vegemite is yeast extracts. All in all I've never liked either! ~~~~>

I also added alot more greens to their diet, including spinach and lucerne. When they were old enough I built an outside pen for them all (separated of course down the middle) so they had access to grass aswell. There is no limit to greens! The amount used in my little menu there adds up to 100g. I had to make it add up to a certain amount in order to record how much they ate properly, careful to make sure enough was available. For you, if you are considering this, consult the table on the previous page and make sure all your proteins and carbohydrates %'s are correct to the g. Always make sure food is available for ducklings and always remove stale or soggy food!
That about wraps up the food section. I fed the ducklings in ordinary chinese takaway plastic containers, swapping to icecream containers when they were bigger.
