As you very well may know, Marquette University is going through a bit of a, well... shitstorm. Recently, the Board decided to throw out their mascot the "Golden Eagles", which they have used for several years now. Instead of using a mighty creature to represent the school and student body, the Board decided to choose a COLOR/METAL for its mascot. Current students, alumni and mortals alike were stupefied at this decision. The Board heard the uproar of the people and threw THAT mascot out the window as well, sooooo, now Marquette is allowing everyone interested to submit suggestions for a new mascot. The best 10 will be voted on in a short while and then the two with the most votes will be decided between during a second vote with the winner being announced July 1st.
I thought it might be nice to chronicle the never-ending saga of the Marquette mascots, featuring all four mascots up to this point and my favorite ideas for the upcoming mascot. Enjoy! |
